MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
My MPC-HC find subtitles from all providers with the exception of the OpenSubtitles.
Anyone know what could it be?
My installed version of K-Lite is 12.8.0. I already tried reinstall and nothing.

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
Can you give an example of a file for which it can't find subtitles? Preferably something I can easily download from a torrent or newsgroup.
Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
Example: The.Revenant.2015.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS, Legend.2015.1080p.BluRay.X264-AMIABLE
I tested with many others releases and nothing. Only OpenSubtitles didn't find anything.
The funny thing is why only OpenSubtitles can't find anything. It's bothering me so hard.

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
OpenSubtitles works based on a hash value generated from first part of the file. So it works even if file was renamed. Downside is that it may fail if file was modified. The other search engines work purely based on file name.
I am downloading now.
I am downloading now.
Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
It began to happen sometime ago even before newer versions of MPC-HC. It's possible that firewall or something like that is blocking just the OpenSubtitles database?

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
It is unlikely that your firewall is only blocking OpenSubtitles and not the other ones. But it is possible that OpenSubitles is blocking your IP address. Perhaps you use VPN?
Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
Just a domestic group in a home network. That counts?

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
That should be ok. Does manually downloading from the opensubtitles.org website work?
Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
I have the same problem as well..

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
I have just tested "The.Revenant.2015.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS" and MPC-HC successfully found subtitles on OpenSubtitles.
In case you have setup a username/password for Opensubtitles in MPC-HC options, try resetting the settings.

Unfortunately, MPC-HC does not display the cause of the failure.

In this post: https://codecs.forumotion.net/t2454-mpc-hc-fails-to-download-subtitles-from-opensubtitles-using-account the member Xemidra posted a Log. Perhaps maybe that log can help me?

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
Can you try with this version of MPC-HC:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/mxbxbr
It has a little bit of extra logging.
Disable the other subtitle providers. If possible test with "The.Revenant.2015.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS.mkv", so I can compare your log with mine.

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
Did you solve this problem ? My MPC-HC is doing exactly the same thing from the subtitle update 1.7.11. All subtitle providers are working fine except the OpenSubtitles database. It does not find a single thing in any video file. Worked perfectly before the update. Any solution ?

It should create this file:
%appdata%\MPC-HC\subtitles.log
Do it with a file for which you are certain that it worked with an older version.

Thank you for quick response. This is the log for one of the files that worked fine. The "OpenSubtitles" setting are set to "default", so login is not enabled at the moment.
But enabling the login doesn't change the situation. I also tried different renderers from "Output" setting, but without any change.
Edit: When I look at the code, there is no internet adress for OpenSubtitles database in the "Search" field (other servers have adress), is it OK ?

Re: MPC-HC can't find any subtitle from OpenSubtitles
No, the search field in the log is OK.
Searching on OpenSubtitles is done using the hash value and not filename like the other providers. I have downloaded that same file (from a torrent) and the search works correctly here. I get 48 results on OpenSubtitles. The filesize of the file that I have is the same as in your log. The hash however is different. Mine is 90ad450bda52ba0a and yours is 0000000007bb56ac. So either your file has been altered somehow, or there is some kind of bug in MPC-HC with the calculation of the hash value.
The MD5 value of the file that I have is: 7b7a378dcf8de36f3e39c45011985974
Can you check if yours is the same? Here is a little tool for it:

Can you test this build of MPC-HC? It has a little bit more logging.
