Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
My setup: itx minipc is connected to 4k@60hz monitor with built-in speakers via DP
intel i7-6700
MB: ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac
64MB DDR4
256G SSD
OS: Windows 10
Testing file is a Korean MV .ts extension video encoded by HEVC 265 and audio by AAC LATM.
MPC can play the video nicely after enabling intel Quicksync but audio getting problem. Audio output is not smooth at all and with no sound at regular interval, say 10s.
Also, neither DXVA2 native nor copy back is working. Screen is black for both cases.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
Decoding the video works correctly here with DXVA2. I have a NVIDIA GPU. Try updating your Intel GPU driver. If that does not help, then disable the HEVC checkbox in the hardware acceleration settings. QuickSync does not support HEVC yet in LAV Video decoder, so that has the same effect as disabling it. Your processor is fast enough for normal decoding.
Audio is normal here as well. No hickups or silences. Do you have audio problems with other files as well?

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
I have already updated the Intel graphic drivers to the latest and tried both beta and official. No luck!
If I disable the hardware decoder option (either DXVA2 or Quicksync), mpc will not display anything and just display black.
For audio, there is no problem for other applications.
I don't know whether it is Windows 10 issue. I also tried PowerDVD15 that the video output was stuck at the beginning screen of video but audio was fine. However, DVXA is not in use in PowerDVD15 and cannot be enabled.

The video is a bit damaged at the beginning (due to bad cut) so that may cause problems with certain decoders.
Did you restart the player after disabling hardware acceleration? The black screen should not happen.

Disable hardware coder will result no screen (black) at all.

I don't know why it is not working.
Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
NVIDIA GPU is tested that can hardware decode in MPC Win10. However, Intel HD530 cannot support properly under the same setup without NVIDIA graphic card addon.

That video is 10-bit HEVC. Intel graphics cards only support acceleration for 8-bit HEVC.
Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
Thanks, I haven't noticed this video is 10 bit.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
I have tried other video clip with 4K HEVC 8-bit and it works perfectly. Thanks.
So, how can I use hybrid (so called hardware + software) decode HEVC 10-bit in mpc?

Your hardware does not support hybrid decoding, and software decoding is faster.
Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
Thanks. So i7-6700 + z170 cannot decode hevc 10 bit property.

Maybe in a future driver of Intel.
The only GPUs that currently can do HEVC 10-bit with full acceleration are NVIDIA GTX 950 and 960. AMD Fury/Nano also have full acceleration but only for 8-bit.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
I hav e already tried hevc 8 bit without problem. Even my hardware is not supported 10 bit hevc decode, it should not be showed black screen.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
That is a bug in the driver. Normally LAV Video decoder will switch to software decoding automatically. It checks if the hardware supports decoding the video format.
Have you tried other files? Here are some samples:

Not yet. Thanks. I will try other and report by return.
I have already reported this problem to intel and hope she will look into this.

Just checked the forum that a new beta intel graphic driver (Beta 15.40.20.4404) has been released. I will try also.

New intel beta (4404) installed and tested. HEVC 10bit 50/60fps cannot decode properly.
For 4k HEVC 10bit 24fps, HD530 + 6700 can marginally handle to decode.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
Yes, HEVC 4k 10bit at 60fps needs a LOT of processing power. Also try with just the 6700. It might be a bit better than hybrid decoding. I have an older and slower CPU, but I can almost play your sample smoothly. A few % overclock would be enough I think.
Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
I already use 6700 only in lav filter and get the sound not decoding properly. Video at 60fps is marginal watchable. Overclock may help but my 6700 is not K version.

Hi Admin, by setting output to system default instead of custom rendered, hevc 10 bit video finally plays normally.

Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
System default equals VMR-7 (windowed) renderer. It is a very basic renderer, so it will need a bit less processing power. It also has less functionality. It for example does not support DXVA hardware acceleration.
Re: Basic MPC 12.0.1 doesn't play audio AAC LATM properly in Win10
I see, % of CPU usage is around 60-70 for 10bit HEVC while 20-30 for VP9 respectively.
