Episodical micro-tearing and stuttering on very powerful hardware and win 11
Hello. Thank you for supporting such marvelous product as MPC-HC and codecks for it.
I've been using it for years on 3-4 laptops and different OS since Win 7 I guess.
But recently I've bought a new laptop with i9-14900HX and G-force 4070 and I faced mini stuttering while playing videos with 60 fps, which I download from youtube.
I don't have any such problems while playing them from browser - youtube directly or using native new win 11 media player.
But I have a lot of problems with my beloved MPC...
I've tried different DirectShow renders and no luck...
Some of them lagging and dropping fps in some moments to 40 fps, some of them work better, but still on some dynamic scenes when the camera is moved quite fast, the numbers of fps drop insiginificantly - 58-59 fps, but you visually see these drops.
The only workaround I've managed to find is to use `D3D FullScreen` which seems to be working, but is not really very convenient...
I have the latest Nvidia drivers, the games are working perfecly, but I have these really strange problems with videos...
I tried to check the same video with my previous rig on win 10 and it plays smoothly on it, no stuttering at all on default `Video Mixing Render 9 (renderless)`
So on win 11 I tried to install the old version of codecks I have there - and no luck - still stuttering...
I've updated to the newest version of codeck - same problem, easily reproducible on the same parts of the video - it's not random, basically I test different renders on the same part of the videos.
The example of such video is https://youtu.be/1o8mXFCjjiE?si=6NS-EYPm-mdvpatG&t=977
from 16:17 to 16:29
Here I've made a few screen recordings, maybe they will help https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14wr9kdNJCHB4Yx-DDHrgxtnkN5hUREUM?usp=sharing
Do you maybe have any suggestions? I would be really glad to here them and would appreciate any help...

Video Mixing Render 9 isn't the default renderer. That is a super old renderer. The recommended one is MPC Video Renderer.
It seems you disabled hardware decoding in the video decoder settings.

Thank you for the response, but unfortunately I tried them all and MPC Video Renderer doesn't differ much, although seems a bit better...

Could you please check my config (attached screenshots) ?
And I've also recorded video with the render you suggested

The best workaround, as I've already mentioned, is D3D Fullscreen - no stuttering at all - basically the only option where I don't have drops at all...

Check the NVIDIA display settings to see if it offers a 59Hz option (which equals 59.94 in reality). That is better suitable for video playback than 60Hz.
Also test if setting NVIDIA driver in high performance mode makes any difference.
Open the Windows Task Manager and check if you see any other processes become active with increased CPU usage during the stutters.

Thank you, but unfortunately, it didn't help.
I use external monitor and it supports only 60 Hz

I tried to switch completely to external Nvidia, intel isn't event seen in taskmanager now https://i.imgur.com/E521ynG.png
but that didn't help.
The point is in youtube or built-in media player
https://i.imgur.com/eyPkTjD.jpeg
there is no such stuttering.
And sorry for repeating this, but in D3d Fullscreen also no drop
https://i.imgur.com/9AG7lsL.png
While I recorded another part (MPC render) and there the drops are even more significant:

Enhanced and render 9 are much more stable for me, but still there are minor drops.

Thank you for sharing this
https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/nvidia-gpu-only-making-literally-everything-stutter.3775043/
but I didn't have total stuttering everywhere, so that hybrid mode worked fine for me, though I still tried and turned off intel completely.
But the interesting part is that when I use laptop only (without monitor) on intel gpu and built in screen I didn't have such stuttering... Will check one more time

Check if there is a BIOS update for your laptop.
Update NVIDIA driver.
It is not fault of the player, so there is nothing I can do.

Disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows settings can help with this issue.

There is no bios update, I've updated recently. And I have the latest Nidia drivers...
Anyway, thank you for you effort and for the links.

Re: Episodical micro-tearing and stuttering on very powerful hardware and win 11
Just for your interest:
- Disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows https://i.imgur.com/oP7y9GJ.png for some reason made stuttering even more discernable, from 60 to 30 fps
so I turned it on again
- Multi-display/Mixed-GPU acceleration - I set it to multi display , but didn't notice any difference. Maybe it's cause I actually use only external monitor and turn off built-in display completely, just closing the laptop lid
At least the workaround with D3d fullscreen still works for me using Enhanced video render

MPC Video Renderer also has an exclusive mode option.
Perhaps VSync is disabled in NVIDIA settings? Enabled is better for video playback.

could you please clarify what you mean?
Can't see such option...
Global vsync seems to be ON

As for the program settings

for some reason nvidia doesn't allow to change the settings directly for some reason...

Exclusive mode is similar to the D3D fullscreen option for EVR-CP. You can find it in the filter options.
You can use NVIDIA Profile Inspector tool to edit application profiles.

If you mean this
https://i.imgur.com/hfxVADN.png
then it's not helping with the stuttering unlike D3D, I have drops up to 40 fps with it in full screen...

Do you mean this?
Is it okay to have it like this?
