Time slider on your media player doesn't move smoothly

I remember when the slider moved smoothly; now, in the last year or so, it jumps all around. I can't move the media to the exact position I want. Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation or is this just how it works now?

options > advanced > PauseWhileDraggingSeekbar = false

and if that does not help then

options > tweaks > uncheck fast seek

If file has large keyframe interval it means that its creator did a poor job.
