Popup Error

After updating to the latest version, MPC-HC player displays this constant popup: MPC-HC fix timeout when closing preview filter graph. Click YES to terminate player process. Click NO to wait longer (up to 15s).

Disable seekbar preview:
Options > Player > user interface > hover type

This problem only occurs for small group of people and the developers are unable to reproduce it.

Does it happen with every file?

Which GPU do you have? The problem is likely related to the graphics driver.

Windows 10, Intel UHD Graphics 600. This didn't occur with the earlier player and may return to that one. Error occurs not on every file and mostly when transitioning from one file to the next. I do use the preview bar and would not want to do without, if a previous player worked fine.

In previous version you would have gotten the same problem. A long delay while closing file. The popup was added purely as an indicator of the problem.

How long does it take to close the file after you press NO?

Closing should normally just take a fraction of a second. The current timeout duration is 5 seconds. I assume in the cases where popup does not show for you, closing wasn't quick as it should be either?

I will replace the graphics driver as well.

The graphics driver was updated a few weeks ago, while still using previous player, but didn't actually get that error until updating the player. After clicking NO, there is no hesitation in opening next file.
