Black artifacts on AVC/H264 codec videos
Hello,
I've recently had a bug with MPC-HC, only with AVC/H264 videos, where flashing or fixed black artifacts appear during video playback.

The problem is the same with “software” or “hardware” playback.
The same video works correctly with VLC Media Player.
I'm using the latest version of K-Lite codec Pack, version 18.4.8.
I recently updated K-Lite BUT I also updated my AMD graphics drivers so I couldn't tell if the problem appeared with a new K-Lite Codec Pack version or the new graphics driver.
Do you have an idea? Thank you very much!

Re: Black artifacts on AVC/H264 codec videos
Does changing the video renderer make a difference?
If it does, then try disabling the video processor options in MPC Video Renderer, to force Shaders processing.
Probably a driver bug.

Thank you for your reply!
It was the activated “NV12” parameter that was causing the problem; deactivating it made the black artifacts disappear immediately.

What is the function of this parameter?

Those settings control whether it uses the D3D11 video processor. That is DirectX functionality for color conversion and scaling. That depends on GPU driver. If disabled, it uses pixelshaders instead.
This confirms it is bug in driver.
