Ok cant remember which one but either of these two caused blue screen of death with handbrake H265 encodes. Thankfully was able to revert back to 17.6.6. So question. The new version released, does it include fix?

Handbrake does not use the codecs from the pack. It contains its own internal codecs. The codec pack has ZERO effect on Handbrake.

Normal software does not cause blue screens. This includes codecs. Only stuff that runs at kernel level can trigger it. Such as drivers.

Your graphics driver is responsible for your problem. Handbrake uses the hardware encoding functionality of your graphics card.

Hmm interesting. I don't have a dedicated graphics card, I use IGP from my 13600k chip. Also problem went away the from exactly after I reverted to older version I was using.
Now if you still say nothing to do with handbrake I will believe you but this is what happened. I was using my PC as usual with several processes, blue screen of death then more frequent BSOD every day after for 10 odd days. I think to myself what did I last install. Last updated klite and nothing up to a few months before. Revert to old version and instantly it stops. Had not happened even once for a month now. So if not handbrake then something else but the issue was definately klite related. What's your best guess?

An IGP is a GPU just like any other.

K-Lite is not in any way responsible. I don't care if it is the last thing you installed or updated. That does not prove anything at all. You are forgetting automatic Windows updates (which can also include drivers) and many many other things that change without you knowledge. Just running multiple applications at same time that use hardware acceleration can trigger driver bugs.

If you think you know better then this discussion has ended. I will just tell you that if I would have gotten a dollar for every time I have been in this situation where eventually I was right, then I would be a happy millionaire.

Here is a tool that can give more information about your BSODs using crash dumps from Windows:

Thanks will check it out. I am still doing handbrake encodes even now and no BSOD's.
Like I said I believe you. But now scratching my head since this problem no longer exists with pervious version of klite installed. I install windows updates manually but also did not reverse any of them. So the reason I think klite related was due to problem stopped immediately after uninstall of the latest and going back to previous working version. If that helps that is.

It can also matter what programs you are running while the encode is in progress. For example browsers also make use of the GPU.

And that is assuming the BSODs were related to graphics. It could have been many other things as well. That is why the tool I linked to is useful.

sorry to bring this back from the dead. Please let me know if not an issue.

No blue screens for months now after the above issue
Updated last night from K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1830_Full to K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1835_Full.
No other updates and no new software.
Blue screen on Win11 Pro 22H2 twice today
Not running handbrake. Only browsers Edge and firefox both as always, citrix for work

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000013a (0x0000000000000012, 0xffff8288c1010140, 0xffff8288e882b000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

Just installed K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1830_Full again to check if problem goes away

0x0000013a is kernel mode heap corruption error.

It is caused by a driver or Windows bug.

It is not fault of codec pack.
