No sound with K-Lite for WMP on Win11 playing 4K movies
Hi,
I've installed K-Lite ver. 17.6.6 and using WMP on Win11 PC to play 4K movies but there is no sound. The sound does work in VLC for the same files on the same PC.
Any ideas?

Codec Tweak Tool > Audio Output > Disable bitstreaming
If that does not help, then change the audio renderer in the player.
MPC settings > Playback > Output

That didn't help, changing to `DISABLED` could not be saved in Codec Tweak Tool and stayed at `KEEP EXISTING SETTINGS`. Changing to DD instead of TrueHD in WMP itself did work and now there is sound but VLC does play both codecs.

CTT does save the settings.
WMP does however use codecs from Microsoft by default.
I really recommend to use our MPC-HC player instead of WMP. For WMP you can find some workarounds in our FAQ. For example to rename your files to .video to bypass the MS codecs.
