Use of K-Lite Codec Pack Mega and DirectX in a commercial environment
Hello,
Is it free to use K-Lite Codec Pack Mega in a commercial environment?
While installing K-Lite Codec Pack Mega, I enabled the checkbox which asked to install DirectX.
Is it free to use the DirectX (which was downloaded and installed) in a commercial environment?
Thank you.

You need to specify what you mean with commercial environment. Do you mean installing on a company computer? That is allowed. Re-distributing or bundling with other software is not allowed without explicit permission.
Re: Use of K-Lite Codec Pack Mega and DirectX in a commercial environment
In my case by commercial environment, I mean a single laptop which I am using for work from home. I just want to play videos with the software, I won't be re-distributing or bundling with other software.
I didn't find any license or agreement while installing "K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1745_Mega.exe" or on the codecguide.com website.
Do I need to check for licenses of individual components in "K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1745_Mega.exe" ?
I do have a license document of K-Lite Codec Pack (Mega):- [ https://rb.gy/fz8wvw ]. I don't remember the source from where I got the document. If there is any updated license/agreement document then please share.
According to the above license terms document, the components:-
1. a) "Haali Media Splitter / Haali Video Renderer / Haali Muxer", b) "DC-Bass Source Mod", c) "Codec Tweak Tool", d) "MediaInfo Lite GUI" are Freeware.
Does "Freeware" mean it can be used in a commercial environment?
2. Icaros has license [ http://www.codecguide.com/license_icaros.txt ] in which the first point states it is a freeware.
Again, does "Freeware" mean it can be used in a commercial environment?
There is a separate section in the above license webpage for FFmpeg which has license LGPLv2.1 which means it allows commercial use.
3. madVR has license [ http://www.codecguide.com/license_madvr.txt ] that allows commercial use (written under USAGE DESCRIPTION):-
The software "madVR" may be freely used as an end user application by both non-commercial and commercial end users, without buying a license, without even notifying the author about the use.
4. Other components have the license: GPLv2, GPLv3 and BSD 2 which allow commercial use.
Note, I have checked the licenses using the website [ https://tldrlegal.com/ ].
Thank you.

Yes, using it on your laptop is totally fine.

Hello,
Just a slight addition to the question asked:-
Does using K-Lite Codec Pack Mega and DirectX in a "commercial environment" mean it is free for "commercial use"? Example of commercial use would be using K-Lite Codec Pack Mega to run work-related videos. Again, I am not trying to sell the app or distribute for profit or bundle it with other software.
Thank you.
