Windows Media Player Crashing when K-Lite Codec Pack is installed

Hello,

With K-Lite Codec Pack installed Windows Media Player crashes when opening a video file.

A workaround fix is to disable Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder (64-bit), Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (64-bit) via Codec Tweak Tool/MS Codec Tweaks.

Those are codecs from Microsoft. I can't fix them.

I recommend using Media Player Classic from K-Lite. That is a MUCH better player.

But why is it only happening when K-Lite Codec Pack is installed?

If K-Lite Codec Pack is not installed then the videos open fine.

There can be a million reasons why it crashes. If the crash occurs in one of those codecs, then it is the fault of those Microsoft codecs. Period.

All I know is that it is not the fault of K-Lite and that WMP works fine with it for others.

Did a repair install of Windows 10 and now the videos open without disabling Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder (64-bit), Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder (64-bit) via Codec Tweak Tool/MS Codec Tweaks.

May help others encountering the same crashing.
