Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
Keep getting an error for "IcarosPropertyHandler.dll" each time I try to view the "History" tab within the game Overwatch 2.
Copy of error message below!
Overwatch.exe - Bad Image
C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack\Icaros\64-bit\IcarosPropertyHandler.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original intallation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000428.
Any help in this would be amazing. It only happens in Overwatch 2 and only in the History tab.
Windows Version - Windows 11 Pro
Coedec Pack - Mega - 17.2.1
Steps I've tried.
1.) Reinstalled K-Light.
2.) Ran the game as Admin.
3.) Reinstalled Overwatch 2.
4.) Have restarted after fully updating any Windows updates.

Re: Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
IcarosPropertyHandler is a plugin for Explorer for showing video file details. So the game must be using the Explorer shell somehow for browsing files. I am not sure why the bad image error occurs though. It is likely a bug in the game.
I assume the "history" tab shows video recordings? Do you know which file format the game uses?
As a workaround you could uncheck "Icaros PropertyHandler" on the "Select Components" page during K-Lite installation.
You can also disable it after installation:
Codec Tweak Tool > Various Tweaks > uncheck "Use Icaros PropertyHandler"

Re: Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
When I save them from the games they are .mp4, so I'm guessing that is what they are on the in game menu? Tho yea it shows replays and that from your previous games.
However disabling it did work, and I no longer get the error when opening it up. Thanks for that!

Re: Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
The PropertyHandler is not enabled anymore for .mp4 in K-Lite 17.2.x. But it was enabled in an earlier version (17.0.5). If you have updated from an older version, without uninstall, then it has stayed enabled. Or did you also do an uninstall before re-installing the codec pack?
Re: Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
I just reinstalled over the old one using the "Fresh Install" type install. Should I totally uninstall it all and redownload/reinstall it? I've not uninstalled the entire pack since I first installed it back on this particular computer two years ago. I just let it keep installing updates, or doing the "Fresh Install" without uninstalling prior.

Yes, uninstall it first and then install again with the propertyhandler enabled. Let me know if the game still gives an error in that case.
I have seen reports of same error for DLLs from other products as well, so the game is probably doing something weird.

Re: Overwatch 2 Error with K-Lite
In doing so it fixed the problem from a fresh install. I did not have to disable anything special. So all is running fine again. Thank you for that. =) I guess like you said old content being a pain with newer stuff.
