Subtitles with frames do not show
I have used the codec pack version 15.9.0 up until recently which was working fine, and I upgraded a couple of days ago to version 17.2.0. I use the Basic version of the codec pack.
Upon updating, the subtitles in the SUB format (MicroDVD format, with frames) do not display. I have a couple of older AVI files which have these subtitles. Upon updating, everything installed properly, I used the intaller's built-in quick update option.
Now, upon playing these videos, the video starts, the green arrow loads in the taskbar, on right-click it displays which language is selected for displaying (Hide Subtitles is NOT checked), but no text appears in the video. Other subtitle formats work fine, it is only these SUB files which have frames as the start and end point fot a subtitle line. I did not have these issues with the previouslly installed build.
Any suggestions?
Update:
I just tried some other versions. Build 15.9.5 works fine all the way to 16.1.2 when it comes to these subtitles. Starting from build 16.2.0 the subtitles do not show, even though VSFilter is running in the system tray. I tried 16.2.0, 16.2.5, 16.9.8 and 17.2.0 - they all exibit rhe same issue.

Upload one of those subtitle files for me.

Re: Subtitles with frames do not show
Do you need an entire subtitle or just a portion of it?
Most of these subtitles are intellectual property, so I wouldn't share them in their entirety.
The format in these subtitles is that video frames are used for displaying a subtitle instead of timestamps. For example, a line in this file begins with a video frame number when the text line is to appear, and an ending video frame until which that text line is to be displayed. It looks like this:
{20730}{20795}Hello, Mrs. Conelly. How are you today?|- Hello. I am fine, thank you.
This line would display in a video like this (only centered):
Hello, Mrs. Conelly. How are you today?
- Hello. I am fine, thank you.
The pipe or vertical bar symbol (|) is used to denote a new line in the same subtitle appearance.
I believe this was inntoduced with early DivX players such as MicroDVD back in the early 2000s. Should you need an entire set, can I upload a portion of a video with a portion of a subtitle for you to check?

You can share link in a private message here.
First part of the subtitle file might be enough. But test the partial file first to verify that the problem isn't due to a specific line in the file.

Re: Subtitles with frames do not show
MPC-HC from standard pack should handle this type of subtitle without issue.

Yes, my point exactly. There must be a bug introduced in the filter at one point. My subtitle files are OK and work fine in K-Lite versions up to 16.1.2. I reverted to this version and subtitles show normally.

Re: Subtitles with frames do not show
If you wish, you can send me the patched/modified VSFilter file to test it like before, once you have fixed the bug.

Re: Subtitles with frames do not show
I downloaded version 17.2.5 and can confirm the frame-format subtitles display properly again. Thank you for the update... And don't fix it if it ain't broken anymore. ;-)Admin wrote:It will be in 17.2.1
