MPC-HC crashes with 'Access Violation' error

Hello, some .mkv videos I have that were encoded with Handbrake 1.3.2 HEVC now crash on opening, sometimes the audio plays, other times not. This happens with K-Lite Codec Pack 16.9.0 Mega but not 16.8.0 Mega. I have other videos from Handbrake 1.3.3, encoded near identically, that play fine.

Test if 16.9.1 solves it. That has a small fix in the video renderer.

I did 'Fast Update', no the problem remains.

Which GPU do you have? I suspect it might depend on the brand, as it doesn't crash on my NVIDIA system.

Your sample video has a width of 706, which is not a multiple of 4. This is the only uncommon property of the file I see at first glance. Can you check if all failing files have a width that is either uneven or just a multiple of 2?

There are some settings changes in MPC Video Renderer that you could test for me. That would help the developers in search for the cause of the crash.
1) Enable/disable "Use Direct3D 11"
2) Disable all checkboxes in the "DXVA2 and D3D11 video processor" section

Simply replace the files from the pack, with the ones from the ZIP.

Having to battle Sendspace is no fun, but yes the MpcVideoRenderer updated files did the trick. I have an Nvidia GPU and the drivers were updated a few weeks ago. And yes, the videos were all 706 resolution.

Hi, I just update to the latest version 16.9.2 I get the same error but in the windows error log and MPC crashes when I press F11 to toggle fullscreen to minimal and vice versa. The log says: Faulting application name: mpc-hc64.exe, version: 1.9.20.10, time stamp: 0x623fa900

After it did that once it didnt repeat itself,but i just test it only with 2 files and 2 times only. Thx for your great work,this pack with the video player is the best pack i used till now

i have rx580 and its has been amd Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional driver after updated
