MPC-HC Player playlist paths
I am using K-Lite MEGA pack's MPC-HC Player.
I am keeping my video files in an external drive and I called it K drive. And I backup all the video files in that drive to another external hard disk called J drive.
But the playlists created in K drive point to videos in K drive. When these playlists are copied to J drive and played without K drive, the playlists say the videos don't exist.
Is there an easy way to change the paths of all the videos in the playlists in J drive from K drive to J drive?

Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
You must edit the playlists with a text editor to change the paths.
In Notepad you can press Ctrl+H to quickly replace text.

Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
The paths are not listed in Notepad when I tried to edit. In any case, I hope the developers can find a way for playlists to play videos in the same folder as the playlists.

Have you tried to use relative path?

Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
If the playlist file does not contain paths, then filenames are already relative, meaning the folder in which the playlist is located is implicitly prefixed as the path. So you can't just move such a playlist out of the folder containing the movie files. If you need to access it from elsewhere, use a shortcut, or re-save the playlist in new location.

I was implying that he/she must move/copy playlists (that use relative path) with the videos.

When I move playlists and videos from, say, K drive to J drive, the playlist paths are shown in Notepad if I edit a playlist from J drive but not shown in K drive.
How do I create playlists that use relative path so that I don't have to manually edit a playlist in a new drive?

Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
MPC-HC should already create relative paths if you save MPCPL type playlist in same folder as the videos.
Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
I understand now. I used MPC-HC for years and whenever I created a playlist earlier, it added the folder path to it.
I didn't know that a later version of MPC-HC created relative path playlists. So now I edited in Notepad the older playlists by removing the folder path and now they have relative paths.
Thank you so much to all of you for making me understand.

Re: MPC-HC Player playlist paths
When I create a playlist of videos in same folder, the playlist is relative path i.e. no folder is mentioned in it when viewed in Notepad.
But when I update it by adding another video from same folder, the playlist adds the folder path meaning that it is no longer using relative path.
Hope this can be fixed.
