SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
Hello,
When i open an HDR video it switches to hdr mode and colors are washed out when i make it fullscreen it gets the normal colors. After the hdr video if i do not exit the player and just open a SDR video and it opens on the same mpc-hc windows swiches to sdr and colors are normal on windows and played video but when switched to fullscreen colors are blown.
I was going to add screenshots but i realized even though displayed image is overblown with colors the screenshot looks normal so i am uploading a short video.

Drivers and system details:
klcp_update_1682_20220217
MPC-HC and MADVR for playback
igfx_win_101.1340
511.79-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql
Thanks

Re: SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
Maybe this helps:
madvr options > devices > display modes > restore original display mode = when media player leaves fullscreen
madvr options > devices > display modes > restore original display mode = when media player leaves fullscreen
Re: SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
I have set it like this but it did not change. Interestingly when i drag the same thing to second monitor it plays normal when i make it fullscreen it is also normal when i drag it back to hdr monitor it is normal but when i make it fullscreen it changes colors

Edit: Also when hdr was working normally on madvr I have switched to tone map rather than passthrough and windows went to sdr desktop and everything is sdr and movie is also sdr but when i fullscreen colors are still blows

Re: SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
Try with MPC Video Renderer instead of madvr.
But this really sounds like a bug in Windows or your graphics driver.
Make sure that "Contrast Enhancement" and "Fleshtone Enhancement" are disabled in the Intel driver settings.

Re: SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
It is not displayed by intel it is connected to nvidia gpu.
MPC renderer works but it does not switch to HDR .
Probably it is the HDR. I understand HDR is weird on windows just wanted to give information to make it better.
I do not understand the HDR switching from windows to be honest what changes happen on the hdr and display etc. HDR is new to me my hdr monitor is not even HDR400 it is a budget HDR monitor. I want to know more about HDR but information seems limited.
Thanks.

Re: SDR video has overblown colors after playing HDR video
MPCVR only switches to HDR if "Use Direct3D 11" is enabled in its options.
Updating nvidia driver might help with the bad colors.
