frame repeat every 41 seconds on 23.976 video

On My HTPC I have a fresh install of windows 10 and klite full pack which has replacd my previous codec pack (KCP)
I will be using MADVR for most playback, and using EVR if things get choppy (OLD HD4300/4500 card)

As expected, when playing a 23.976 movie with my display set to 24Hz I get the well documented 41s frame repeat/drop
Previously I used reclock to get perfect playback.

I would just like to check if reclock is still recommended or is there something within the klite setup that can help with this?

One solution is to make a custom resolution:

Another solution is to use smooth motion option in madvr. Downside is that video will be a tiny bit more blurry.

Reclock is 32-bit only and therefore not recommended. Your hardware is lacking hardware decoding ability, so 64-bit playback components are essential for getting good playback performance of never video formats such as HEVC.

I found a spare GT630 card lying about which I have now replaced the HD4300, so hopefully I now have a bit more GPU power.

I can now play some videos that were choppy before. I now also have the Nvidea control panel. Plus no messing about with old drivers to get bitstreaming to work.

I still get the 41s repeat shown in madVR but I see the codec pack recommends using MPC VR. If I press ctrl-J on this renderer, I am unclear if I am getting frame repeats - so far I haven't found a guide at deciphering it's information.

Would certainly be good to not have to use reclock, so will do some expreiments.

MPCVR is default because it is simpler and easier to use. It will have same repeat issues as madvr.

With my new GT630 It has a refresh rate of 23.976 as an option in windows (as well as 24)
This gives a frame repeat on my setup of approx 12 minutes.

I have followed the madVR guide today.

The initial custom resolution still produces a frame repeat every 12 minutes.
When trying any of the suggested optimized modes I get an error - The GPU driver rejected this mode, for unknown reasons.
I have tried drivers that Windows installs automatically and also the latest WHQL drivers.
Looks like I may have the GPU bug that is mentioned right at the end.

When trying smooth motion, I also still get a 12 minute frame repeat.

Although it is not recommended, due to the time spent on this, my thinking now is to go back to my old setup with reclock, just with the updated graphics card?

Does a repeat once per 12 minutes bother you that much? It should be barely noticeable.

You can try applying the custom refresh rate with CRU tool. That works better than letting madvr do it. Use the values calculated by madvr. You can deviate a tiny bit from the values if they keep getting rejected.

Also make sure that the active refresh rate is not the same one as the one that you are modifying. Otherwise it will reject changes as well.

12 minutes is certainly better than 41 seconds, but of course not as good as my previous setup.
I have tried CRU but it shows 60Hz timings only . So I created a new timing -I set the values to those that madvr was using and I set it to 23.976 Hz at the bottom. I don't think it did anything - theres no extra refresh rates option that have appeared within windows. I've found a guide here but it is really hard to make sense of.

Maybe My Nvidea card is not up to the job either?

A GT630 is also pretty old. But assuming your screen is 1080p it might be sufficient for basic scaling with for example Jinc.

I can't be of more help with the resolution tweaking.
