.mpg files not showing video. audio is fine
extension is .mpg and file type is MPEG.
In codec tweak tool I tried changing (in preferred splitters) .MPG .MPEG to use LAV splitter instead of Microsoft(recommended) but that didn't help.
Any advise, please, on what else I can try to make this file type work.
thank you

Which player?
Which version of the codec pack?
Copy MediaInfo details for the file here.

Re: .mpg files not showing video. audio is fine
If other video formats also fail to show video, then read this:
http://codecguide.com/faq_display_issues.htm#item11
Test playback with Media Player Classic.
For XnView you could try changing the preferred MPEG1 decoder.

works in media player classic. I've also tried downgrading a few versions back of xnview but still not working for any mpg files.

Re: .mpg files not showing video. audio is fine
Did you read that FAQ entry? That may be cause of your problem.
Re: .mpg files not showing video. audio is fine
FAQ was helpful. once I open the same file twice in xnview I can see the video.
I tried one of the work arounds, specifically setting DSR setting but for some reason the application (nvidia control panel) keep crashing.
there is also a message saying that windows now manages these settings.
You've also mentioned 'XnView you could try changing the preferred MPEG1 decoder.' Any idea on how to do that?
thank you for all the help above.

Re: .mpg files not showing video. audio is fine
That confirms that your problem is because of the NVIDIA driver.
Changing the MPEG1 decoder will not have any effect in this case.
This is something that XnView has to fix. Their internal player should not use legacy overlays.
