tweak tool not saving

Recently I reinstalled a clean latest version of the klite mega pack.

I used to have the setting where my receiver, an Onkyo NR1030 would do the decoding if it received a signal like Atmos, DTS-HD, etc, now it doesn't "click" over to show what signal it's getting, like it would display Atmos, DD, DTS etc. But now when I change that option in the tweak tool to use Bitstreaming and select the options it doesn't save it. https://i.imgur.com/pyukHp5.jpg unless this is the intended behavior and I somehow messed up where I make the receiver decode the signal?

I've been screwing around with this all afternoon because it just bothers me that it doesn't work like it used to.

I tested a bitstream signal through the PS4 DD and DTS work fine, you can see it's receiving that on the amp.

But when I tell MPC-HC to play only a bitstream signal it won't output anything and the amp won't pick up a bitstream, but it picks up PCM just fine.

This worked a few hours before updating, I dunno what to do. I've reinstalled drivers, reinstalled klite packs, factory reset my amp. It's driving me nuts that it was fine a few hours ago.

It does save the settings correctly! It always shows "keep current settings" after reload for the simple reason that it controls multiple components, whos settings might differ at any given time.

Try different audio renderer in MPC-HC settings:
Options > Playback > Output

Right I realised that after.

I think there is a bug with bitstreaming because when I finally figured it out, no sound comes from MPC-HT. But when I try the Dolby Atmos windows app and play the demos it sends out Atmos signals to my receiver and works just fine.

But when I try my mkv Atmos encoded samples it just decodes them and sends them as a PCM signal to the amp, where as it used to send the Atmos signal to my amp and it worked perfectly fine. So something is wrong here but I can't figure it out.

I've tried all sorts of outputs in that area and nothing changes.

Try with the Movies&TV player from Windows 10.

I thought Movies and TV app couldn't use DTS M-HD/DD TrueHD etc decoding? I've never had that work. But either way for this test I got no sound with a video that had DTS Master HD.

Tried it on my surface with the mega codec pack I installed on it years ago and it works fine. I can't be arsed debugging this anymore. So many hours wasted.

Use default install settings. Only enable the bitstreaming setting during installation.

Open the Windows Sound settings. Verify that the correct audio device is set as default. Open the Properties of that device. There is a tab that shows all supported bitstreaming formats. Check if those are correct and enabled. Then go to the Advanced tab, verify that both "exclusive mode" options are enabled. That is required for bitstreaming.

I dunno if that install worked or just setting exclusive mode in the audio options fixed (probably the later)
