Would like to have Force Subtitle off by default
Hi
I always want my subtitles to be off. I will manually select it if I need it.
The latest MKV metadata now allows to Default "No" a subtitle but to Force "Yes" a subtitle to indicate that this is a force subtitle, such a sound impaired, commentaries would be...
By setting the value to Yes in the Force section but no in the Default section, the Media Player Classic seem to overrule and set the subtitle on when launching the mkv file...
Searching anywhere in the options, changing my preference to null and subtitles to off doesn't change this behavior. Opening a new MKV file loads the force subtitle anyway...
It would be nice to have an option that would overrule this
Thanks

Re: Would like to have Force Subtitle off by default
That is already possible, and you don't need to modify your files.
Simply change the subtitle selection mode to "No subtitles" in the settings of LAV Splitter:
MPC options > Internal Filters > Splitter

I wouldn't have though to look over there
I had tried to uncheck the options in
MPC options > Subtitles > Misc
and remove the subtitle in
MPC options > Playback - Default Track Preference
But yes, pretty sure now it will work
Thanks!

Re: Would like to have Force Subtitle off by default
You can also toggle subtitles on/off regardless of which track is selected.
Menu > Play > Subtitles > Enable (or press W key)
Next version of MPC-HC will also support "off" as a language ID for the track preference setting. That can be helpful as well in case there are external subtitle tracks that you wish to ignore by default.
