[SOLVED] Reading a Matroska file
Hello everybody,
End of July, I downloaded a few copies of a video, seemingly in Matroska format (MKV). It displayed pretty good in MPC-HC.
Today, it does not start, even after updating and reinitializing MPC-HC.
On the settings screen during setup, I saw Matroska checked.
VLC gets the sound.
MPC-HC works for other formats.
Can anybody help ?

Re: [SOLVED] Reading a Matroska file
Well, I realize the question is not asked properly. I did not remember well, in fact I only had the sound in the video, so it is normal that VLC and Windows Media Player only render the sound. What could be improved with MPC-HC with the video I recorded in July would be to get the sound back.
Anyway, the video is still published on Youtube, only the canals seem not to be too well defined so that Ant recorder can record the video with sound and image.
I now recorded the video with the Xbox bar, and the results seems quite nice.

Youtube often uses separate files for the audio and video streams. So it is likely that you have downloaded files that only contain video or only audio.

I remember I once had five canals for one video, and it appeared one contained the image and one the sound. The others either were duplicate or useless (or they could be the image with different resolutions).
I spent half a day with the Microsoft program with Windows 10 that is aimed to edit videos. Was it Photos ?
And I eventually got what I wanted. It was a good idea to choose a video with a certain interest for such an exercise.
This time, I am afraid that Ant video downloader only found one canal, and it only contained the sound, I have no idea whether it is a bug or Youtube prefers you see the video online again. But happily the XBox bar solved the problem. It has a drawback compared to Ant : you have to pay attention to start the video at the beginning, and not to touch your machine until the end.

@Gloops: You can also use MPC-HC directly to download the video.

What he mean is that you can download the files from Youtube with this:
https://youtube-dl.org/
You can also play Youtube links directly with MPC-HC if you put that application in the player folder.
