Even when set to play in current player, each new media file opens in a new player.
Previous versions of the Codec updates do not have this issue and after reverting back to the older 1630 version. I have confirmed that the older version does not have this issue.

It works perfectly fine for me (and others), and there have been no recent changes in the player that should cause this problem.

All I can suggest is to reset the settings.
