CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
My PC is old but reliable until now (I bought it back in 2009). It is a HP Core i3 530 with integrated Intel Graphics. It came with Win 7 Media Center 64 bits. I had been using this OS until it ended support and service. I updated then to Win 10 Home and since that day, I could not reproduce any video (I have video files in MP4, AVI and WMV formats). I've been trying to open videos from Windows Media Player, Checked Windows update for video controller and codec updates, but was useless. I've been using K-Lite Codec Pack and Media Player Classic since many years ago, so I installed the last version available of K-Lite Codec Pack with MPC but again, I was unable to reproduce any video. I tried also VLC Player with same result.
I can reproduce videos from youtube and I can see all videos from websites. Problem is only with videos stored in my PC. I waited until last windows update was available, since it was supposed to adress some problems with previous updates. I have now Win 10 Home, version 20H2, compilation 19042.1052. I just reinstalled last stable version of Codec Pack and MPC, but I can't still reproduce any stored video format.
Do you have any suggestion on what the problem could be or a possible solution? Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Exactly which error do you get?
1) "Failed to renderer file" in status bar
2) "Stopped" in status bar, and a black screen.
3) Or black screen with playing audio?
4) Something else?
Copy this log here:

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Hi
When opening a video from Windows Media Player, there is no error window. The program just close without any notice.
If using VLC Player, it just closes without any error reported. If I try again, a notification appears, saying "Ooops: VLC Media Player just crashed.
Would you like to send a bug report to the developers team?
Yes No"
When trying to play a video from MPC Home Cinema, only a small window appear, with the following legend:
"Unexpected error
An error has occurred. MPC-HC will close now.
Exception:
ACCESS VIOLATION
Crashing Module:
C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\dxva2.dll
Offset: 0x59DE31F90, Codebase: 0x7FFBBEB79060"

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Update from my last post
I just click on Codec Tweak Tool > Fixes and run it with default settings. I then, tried to play a video with MPC-HC and there are two changes:
The former last line now says "Offset: 0X59DE31F90, Codebase 0x7FF620D30000"
There is a new last line stating "The thread 10920 tried to write memory at address 0x7FFBBEB79060"
Hope this can help

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Open the settings of LAV Video Decoder and set "hardware decoder" to "none".
Problem seems to be the Intel graphics driver. Your GPU does not have an official driver for Windows 10.

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
I don't know if I uploaded the LAV Settings image correctly, but I had to do nothing. Hardware decoder was set to None already.
I agree with you. I tried to update the video driver, but Win update reports is is updated. Do you know if there is a third party driver I can use? other alternatives are to get a cheap Video card with drivers for Win 10, get a new pc or change OS to Linux.
My PC covered quite well my computing needs until I updated to Win10, so I was delaying on purpose to change it for a newer model. Maybe it's time to buy a new pc.
Actual LAV Settings

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
You could also consider going back to Windows 7 on this old machine. Windows 7 still works fine. Just not getting updates anymore.
You could try different video renderer in MPC-HC:
Options > Playback > Output
Maybe Video Mixing Renderer 9 works for you.

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
I tried Video Mixing Renderer 9 (both window mode and without renderized) and it didn't work. Then I saw Old Video Renderer, give it a try and VUALA. It worked!! I just tried 2 videos 'cause I have to go to work. I'll try other video in different formats at night and tomorrow to check if I can play them too and comment the results.
Thanks a lot again. You were a real help.

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
As offered, I tried to play video in different formats and using different players. Results are as follows:
MPC-Home Cinema.- I can play videos in AVI, MP4, WMV and Animated gif. I couldn't reproduce DVD videos, nor Vorbis format videos.
Windows Media Player.- I can't play any video. The program opens, show a black screen while trying to open the video, and just closes, without any error message.
VLC Player.- Does not play any video format. Program starts, try to open the video but just closes. Giving another try, a small windw appears, saying "Ooops: VLC Media Player just crashed.
Would you like to send a bug report to the developers team?
Yes No"
I think this is the final proof that the Win10 Video Driver was the culprit.
Hope this solution can help other people.

Re: CAN'T REPRODUCE ANY VIDEO
Open the Windows Device Manager. Change the graphics driver to "Microsoft Basic Display Driver". That is a generic driver from Windows. That should work better than your current one.
