Recent Files clears if folder name is too long. (updated)

I've discovered that if the folder name that contains the video you are playing is too long, the Recent Files history clears itself, deleting all previous videos you've played.

Update:
Found out the issue, that while the length of the folder name did play a part, a big part of it what the Folder/subfolder structure

for example
I had the folder structure like this

F:\15 Characters\9 Characters\110 Characters\118 Characters.mkv
In this structure the Recent Files would clear

but once I did this
F:\15 Characters\110 Characters\118 Characters.mkv

The Recent Files list would work as normal.

I just tried with a super long foldername. The recent file list did not clear. Windows automatically used the shortened version of the folder ("folder~1").

Which version of the player are you using?
Can you give the exact name of the folder/file that triggered this problem? Then I can try to reproduce with that name.

Windows has a path limit of 260 characters in many places in its code. You should avoid long folder names.

But I am still not able to reproduce the problem, even with a longer total path.

Which version of Windows are you using?

Found that removing just 3 characters from the folder with the longest name (110 character) down to 107, allowed the recently files to retain the list.

I don't know if this will work for you, this is the format of the folders the and file name.

9 Characters
abcdefghi

110 Characters
[abcdefg] hij 1kl mno, pqr stu vwxyzab cd! - 23-45 (efghi-jkl mno, pqrs tu vwx yzabcd!) [ef-ghi 678j k901 lmn]

[abcdefg] hij 1kl mno, pqr stu vwxyzab cd! - 23 (efghi-jkl mno, pqrs tu vwx yzabcd!) [ef-ghi 456j k789 lmn] [0123456o].mkv
