4K (2160p) video issues
Hi all
I've been having issues with 4K (2160p) such as:
- different colour spectrum it's like more green and yellow in the video
- stuttering playback
- audio lags behind
The issues are different with different videos.
I tried both renderers Enhanced and MPC HC but they have same issues.
BTW all other players like VLC, Gom, etc fail. However only 5K player seems to be playing those videos just fine and smooth.
I'm unable to share video files. Perhaps I can send any other details of the video files?
Thanks
vin

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
If the videos use HDR colors, then you need to select "MPC Video Renderer".
Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Windows Task Manager. If your CPU usage is close to 100% during playback, then your computer is too slow.
If your graphics card supports hardware acceleration for HEVC video, then make sure that "DXVA Native" hardware acceleration is selected in LAV Video Decoder settings.

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
Hey admin
Selecting MPC Video renderer made it go really red. And selecting DXVA native it brought back the stutter issue I had with any videos.
My machine is quite fast, also checked the task manager. My CPU usage is like 20% when playing the video.
5K player seems to play 4K videos just fine without any issues - https://www.5kplayer.com/video-music-player/
What else can I do?
Best

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
Can you copy this log so I can see which hardware you have?
Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log
There are some settings in "MPC Video Renderer" that you can experiment with:
1) Use Direct3D 11
2) Uncheck NV12 an P010 under "DXVA2 and D3D11 video processor"

Hi
I tried with a few combination still the same. Unchecking NV12 just showed a blank screen lol.
Here's the log:
Thanks

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
In the Windows 10 display settings you can specify which GPU should be used by MPC-HC. Select "High Performance" there. Then it will use your NVIDIA GPU.
Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
Yeah I did that mate selected NVidia but still no difference.

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
Update to 15.9.9:
http://codecguide.com/klcp_beta.htm
Maybe that helps. There have been some improvements in MPC Video Renderer.

Ah that helped >> The latest beta update + MPC Renderer + NVidia GPU.
Hopefully I'll be able to use Intel graphics with a future stable update? My laptop fan spins a lot more on Nvidia and consumes more battery.
Cheers.

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
All I can suggest is to experiment with the settings for the Intel GPU.
Reset the MPC Video Renderer settings and only test with/without "Use Direct3D 11" enabled.
In LAV Video decoder you can try the different hardware decoders. The Intel HD Graphics 530 GPU only has partial acceleration for 10-bit HEVC video, which may be why you have performance issues with 4K HDR video.

Re: 4K (2160p) video issues
I tried all them combos bruv i think my Intel HD hardware isn't good enough for the new 4K videos. Time to upgrade my machine I reckon!
