Slow Playback in MPC
Hi Guys. I have problem with slow playback in MPC. In no fullscreen mode is everything fine. When i switch to fullscreen video is slower. I've tried everything, only work fine with MPC video renderer. I Want MadVR because has great tonemapping in HDR to SDR. What is interesting, in fullscreen mode when move mouse down (MPC navigation bar shows) playback is flawless. WTF? On previous radeon HD 5700 works everything fine, but now with radeon RX550 is problem. Newest AMD drivers won't help, because missing HDMI audio Driver. Any solution?

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
Try this:
madVR settings > rendering > windowed mode > frames presented in advance = 3
If you use exclusive fullscreen mode then make same change there. And I also recommend testing with exclusive mode disabled.
If it still lags/stutters with 3 frames in advanced, then you can also try setting it lower to 2 or 1.
Let me know which setting works.

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
Thank you for quick response. I tried set refresh rate from 59 to 50 and video works flawlessly, for the sake i set frames presented in advance on 3 :-)
But another issue revealed. Screen time to time flashing and HDMI signal drop out the return back to normal, sometimes drop for long time, i guess this is radeon drivers issue. Freesync etc are turn off. My old card has same issues + there was some red stripes artefacts in picture that was impulse buy new card. Well artifacts are gone but drop signals continue....

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
Another thing to try:
Right-click on mpc-hc64.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Disable fullscreen optimizations
What you could also try is to do a manual driver installation.
Uninstall the current driver.
Then extract the driver installer package and find the .inf file of the graphics driver and use that to install.
Then it installs just the graphics driver, without all the extra software.
This also allows you to combine new graphics driver with older HDMI audio driver.
I don't have AMD myself, but if you need more detailed instructions you should be able to find them with Google.

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
No luck unfortunately. In mpv player works everything perfect, i don't get it. Mpv player have slightly worse picture then MPC+Madvr but i guess i must deal with it. Thank you for help and advice.

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
You could experiment with the various options here:
madVR settings > rendering > general settings
For example the "windowed overlay", "Direct3D11", and "use separate device" options. There must be some combination that works.
Since it does work well with "MPC Video Renderer", you could also use that. It also has basic tonemapping. It's latest version even has HDR passthrough.

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
With MPC video renderer works all fine. Maybe AMD rx550 2GB graphics card is weak for Madvr. But GPU usage is only 45% with Madvr so weird.

Re: Slow Playback in MPC
Since you have only 2GB VRAM you could try lowering the GPU queue size to 4 in madVR settings.

Same results :-(
