MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
hi foiks,
I have set MPC in Win10x64 to allow multiple instances. It then shows multiple video but there is only one Audio. For instance 2 players run but until i close one of them i wont hear the audio of the other one. I played with MPC settings but no change. Its using LAV splitters.
How can i listen to multiple simultanious Audio with MPC?
No Problem in Win7 before. Also no Problem with VLC. I can also play multiple versions Audio Players with simultanious Output at once.

Disable exclusive mode in the audio renderer settings.
Disable bitstreaming in the audio decoder.
Both are normally disabled by default.

Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
thanx, but i've done all that in all possible combinations. in between i lost sound with MPC all together! all other players still working! in between I downgraded to mega codec pack 15.9.0.
just now i discovered a new+strange behaviour in windows sound settings.
there is sound output (with MPC) of the main device if i default another device for output. after disabling all other but the main usb soundcard, MPC behaves like all other players.
multiple audio streams no matter if bitstreaming or excl. mode are set.

Bitstreaming and exclusive mode should both be kept disabled. Uncheck them and never touch them again.
Having multiple audio devices enabled should be no problem, as long as the desired output is set as the default one in the Windows sound settings. You can also explicitly select an output in the MPC-HC settings.
MPC-HC Settings > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer
and if the internal renderer is selected there these settings are used:
MPC-HC Settings > Internal Filters > Audio Renderer

In the properties of the audio devices there also is an option to disable exclusive mode. Then it won't be used even when an application tries to.
Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
did the trick. for some reason there was no device selected, but i am shure i did not set it that way.MPC-HC Settings > Internal Filters > Audio Renderer
thanx anyway!
Bitstreaming and exclusive mode, as said, doesnt make a difference here.

Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
Do you mean the selected value was literally empty?
It should have been "System Default", which means it should pick the device that is set as default in Windows sound settings.
It only worked with bitstreaming/exclusive because the device is not compatible with those options. So that functionality was simply not used. But I repeat again, keep those disabled!

positive. i should mention, sometime yesterday i installed voicemeeter banana+apo eq (some virual audio cable/tool). that might have confused the setting.Do you mean the selected value was literally empty?
after i un/reinstalled stuff and picked Audio Renderer-> system default all the strange stuff stopped.
ok, will keep bitstreaming/exclusive disabled. greets+thanx again. all the best.

Empty selection means it previously used a device that is currently no longer available. That will be fixed in next version so that it will reset to default when that situation occurs.

Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
after updating to 15.9.6 mega there is still some strange behaviour with the audio engine of mpc.
i am running my usb audio @384kHz over usb b/c i like the upsampled sound. sometimes i use bluetooth devices @44,1kHz. all media/audio players i use dont have issues when i switch in a running windows session. mpc does, it seems even to mess the bluetooth audio up permanently.
should it be in a new thread?

Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
Are you switching device while playing? Then I can only suggest to reload the file (Ctrl+E).
I don't have usb/bluetooth devices, so no way to test or fix the problem. Use system default audio renderer instead of the internal audio renderer as see if that works better.
Options > Playback > Output
If issues with bluetooth also happen in other applications, then it is likely a bug in Windows or the sound driver or bluetooth driver.

i tried both. neither is working smoothly.

it only happens with mpc/mega codec pack. so after the above mentioned bugs this seems to be another one. it might be worth treating this as a bug then too.
there is a testtone l/r for any sound device. this tone for any of my bt devices now does not play properly. it is permanently crackled/sliced. mpc after reboots finds back to normal bt playback regardless.
am i making sense?
p.s. the "empty selection" bug is not gone with the new version, as you announced earlier.

Re: MPC multiple instances multiple video but only one audio
VLC works totally different than MPC, so you can't compare them.
The system default audio renderer is actually made by Microsoft, so if that also has the problem, it means I can't fix it.
Just to be clear, I am talking about the selected renderer (Options>Playback>Output).
I am unable to reproduce the empty selection issue. It correctly selects default device if the settings stored an invalid device name.
