All MP4 thumbnails replaced by MPC thumbnails
Updated my system to the following MPC software
on my win 7 pro x64 desktop computer
MPC-HC (Nightly, 64-bit)

Version: 1.9.7.100 (9762e1871)
Compiler: MSVC v19.26.28806
Build date: Oct 19 2020
LAV Filters:
LAV Splitter: 0.74.1.75
LAV Video: 0.74.1.75
LAV Audio: 0.74.1.75
FFmpeg compiler: MinGW-w64 GCC 9.3.0
Operating system:
Name: Windows NT 6.1 (build 7601, Service Pack 1)
Version: 6.1 (64-bit)
Hardware:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz
GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (driver version: 8.15.10.2372)
now all thumbnails that were showing correctly , are now showing only your ( MPC ) thumbnails ????????????
nothing I do puts the thumbnails back to the way they were before installing your software

That is an icon, not a thumbnail. So it seems thumbnailing is broken or disabled. Did you also update/remove any other software? You may be able to fix it by uninstalling the pack and then doing a fresh install.
You can check if it is enabled here:
Codec Tweak Tool > Thumbnails
You can also find a Reset button there to switch to the Windows default settings.
