Media Player Classic ignores display aspect ratio in MKV container
I am running the version 15.7.0 Full of the K-Lite Codec Pack on Windows 10 and I'm having issues playing some particular videos on MPC.
Here's the scenario:
Video originally recorded at 4:3 aspect ratio, then encoded into stretched 16:9 video file.
The video resolution is 1920x720 but the MKV container says the player should play the video in 4:3 instead of 16:9.
Older versions of MPC would obey the container and play the video in 4:3. Newer versions will ignore the aspect ratio set in the video container and play the aspect ratio of the H264 file.
I have this issue with the version 15.7.0. I had version 15.4.0 in my HDD, so I downgraded to 15.4.0 and the video plays fine in 4:3 display aspect ratio.
Here's the mediainfo of a sample file I'm having problems playing.
