Poor performance and high resource usage by MPC-HC Empty Poor performance and high resource usage by MPC-HC

I was having problems playing a file with MPC-HC. Every 10 or 20 seconds I was getting some random artifacts. I tried to play the same video on VLC and it played fine. I opened Task Manager, then I noticed that CPU usage was considerably higher with MPC-HC. I got something between 10 and 15% CPU usage during playback with VLC. With MPC-HC, that number goes up to 70%-80%. I tested some other files, MP4 (H264), WMV and MKV, and this trend seems consistent: VLC is much more lightweight than MPC-HC. In addition, VLC is noticeably faster when you try to open large files.

I use both K-Lite Standard and VLC with default settings. So, my question is: is there any way I could tweak the settings to make MPC-HC run lighter on CPU usage? I mean, it seems odd that VLC is able to produce better results using much less system resources than MPC-HC. Why is there such a big difference? I suppose the playback issues I have is related to high CPU usage. Can it be something else? Right now I have some files that play fine on VLC, but not very well on MPC-HC.

Copy this log file here:
Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log

I suspect that hardware accelerated decoding is not enabled in MPC-HC.

MPC Options > Internal Filters > Video Decoder > Set hardware decoder to DXVA2 Native and enable it for H.264
