ffdshow crashing when encoding ac3
I have the latest klite mega pack installed. Htpc is hooked up to LG TV (ga6400) and is in turn spitting out all audio through optical to a soundbar.
What I am trying to do is get aac surround sound working. I have read many posts and have done it in other rooms with real avr receivers.
My problem here is when ffdshow is set to "AC3 (S/PDIF encode mode) for aac files, it doesn't load at all in th taskbar and all sound from LAv I'm assuming gets output to stereo. When I have ffdshow output to anything else, it'll also output to stereo but it'll at least load.
Ffdshow settings are passthrough ac3, output format ac3 spdif, and mixer 3/0/2 with lfe on

You also need to enable "Resample" in ffdshow and set it to 48.000 Hz.

Thank you for the reply, I have already set the resample rate to both 44 and 48 - still nothing.
I followed your tutorial on how to get AAC 5.1 to bitstream and nothing has worked for me so far

Is AC3 passthrough working for files that already contain AC3?
You might need to adjust the default audio device in the Windows Control Panel. PC speakers might be default instead of the HDMI digital output.
You can also select a desired device in MPC-HC:
options > playback > output > audio renderer
(most devices are listed twice, you should pick the entry that starts with "DirectSound")

Re: ffdshow crashing when encoding ac3
Turns out my tv was filtering any surround sound signal, and only allowing two channel pcm through. Had to go into the service menu of the LG TV and enable AC3 passthrough. Now I've gotten everything to work.
I do have another question for you though, instead of starting another thread I'll ask here: on a separate PC with a Samsung TV and LG soundbar. Windows Media center files for some reason stutter audio and eventually give a cannot play this file video error. This usually doesn't happen right after a restart but does eventually happen. Also a fix I've found is changing the windows mixer settings to 16bit 44khz and 48khz just back and forth between those two usually make it work also. Nothing involved with klite is affected.

Re: ffdshow crashing when encoding ac3
I don't know what would be the case for that. Could be a bug in the sound driver.
Re: ffdshow crashing when encoding ac3
Okay. Thanks for the reply.
