Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
I am running Compuhost V3 karaoke software that allows filler music or videos between singers. I just purchased a Dell XPS 15 L521X laptop with both Intel HD Graphics 4000 & Nvidia GeForce GT 630m video cards. By default the program installs CCCP codecs. It plays video on the secondary screen not centered (2/3rds off to the right). I uninstalled then installed K-Lite Full 14.99, rebooted, opened CompuHost, started player and it closed Compuhost completely. I then uninstalled and reinstalled with K-Lite Mega Pack 15.00 with exact same result. I tried several older versions back to 14.30 and same result. Compuhost support says it's Intels fault.

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
Yes, it could be a problem with the Intel graphics driver.
First test if playback works with the MPC-HC player or GraphStudioNext tool from K-Lite. I am curious if those also crash.
Next step is to disable hardware decoding in the settings of LAV Video Decoder. There is also an option for it in the installer.
If that solves it then my advice would be to also update your Intel driver.
Before updating please copy the hardware section of this log here, so I can see details of current driver.

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
This is the log. I have installed both the driver from Dell and this one from Intel (which is newer). I also went to NVIDIA to install latest driver as well. I can play videos on both players fine. When you say disable hardware decoding, I assume you mean here-

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
It doesn't seem to be a codec problem, but either an issue with rendering or a bug in Compuhost.
Does it also crash when you play on the laptop screen, with secondary disconnected?
Look in the Windows Event Log. You might be able to find crash details there.
Here are instructions on how to set the NVIDIA GPU as preferred for Compuhost:

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
Open the Windows Event Viewer and search for the crash details. With that information I may be able to give advice.
Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
I have a similar issue with Compuhost crashing when I play .mp4 karaoke files. In trying to resolve the problem, I have completed a fresh install of Windows 10. I installed K-Lite Codec Pack 15.1.6 Full. Near the end of the installation, the program goes online to install additional files. (I do not believe the additional files are being removed during the uninstallation process.) At this point Compuhost will play .mp4 video files. However, when I overwrite the newly created Compuhost "history.tps" file (which is a database file) with my original history.tps file, the program will again crash when I attempt to play .mp4 karaoke files.
I don't believe that the K-Lite uninstallation process removes the additional files, because I uninstalled both Compuhost and K-lite, and when I reinstalled both, the problem persists. However, when I restored the computer to a point prior to the installation of K-Lite, and then reinstall K-Lite codec and Compuhost, the problem is eliminated (until I again overwrite the *.tps files). Furthermore, when I simply uninstall K-Lite and reinstall K-Lite, the program does not ask to install the additional files (because they are already installed). But when I restore the computer to a point prior to the installation of K-Lite, and then reinstall K-Lite codec, the program asks to install the additional files. Please help me to identify the additional files that are installed. Is there a way to uninstall the additional files?
Also, is there a way to disassociate the *.tps files from K-Lite? It appears that the *.tps extension is used for both database and video applications.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
You will have to ask CompuHost for help with this specific crash. There is no indication it is caused by codecs or a driver.

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
A file association does nothing more than define a default program for opening a file when you double-click on it in Explorer. It does not restrict in any way what a file extension can be used for. A file association isn't the cause of your problem.
It seems to me that it crashes because your old history file is either damaged or incompatible.

Re: Compuhost crashes when trying to play video
All codecs are already removed during uninstall. The installer can show an offer (only once at first install) for a third party product called WebCompanion. It downloads an installer for that if you accepted. You can remove that through Windows Control Panel.
Is the database file stored in the Program Files folder? If so, you must run CompuHost as administrator (right-click > run as) because otherwise it can't write to the file.
