dllhost.exe memory read error
HI I have been having a problem with K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1499_Mega.exe and 1494. I get these memory errors. Please see image.
My computer:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-7900X CPU @ 3.3GHz 3.31 GHz 64 bit
OS Windows 10 Pro up to date
When I deinstall the software the problem goes away.
Thanks
Jennifer

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
That must be related to the Icaros thumbnail generator.
It would be really helpful if you could identify a file that triggers this error. It is most likely the first file in the folder that hasn't got a thumbnail yet when this error occurs.
If you could upload that file for me, or tell me where you downloaded it, then it can be fixed.
You can enable/disable thumbnails with the Codec Tweak Tool.

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
Here is a registry tweak to enable debug mode for Icaros:
http://files2.codecguide.com/icaros_debug.reg
Download this .reg file and then double-click it. It should generate a crash dump when the error occurs. This is helpful for the developer of Icaros to fix the problem.

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
HI Just to be clear, this is an intermittent problem, I am not running k-lite.

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
If it also happens without K-Lite installed, then it is caused by some other shell extension.
I might be able to help if you have more details about when it happens. For example accessing a folder with a specific type of files, or when selecting a specific file.

This only happens with K-Lite installed...

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
K-Lite contains a plugin for Explorer for generating video thumbnails. That plugin may be failing on a specific file on your computer. To fix it we need to identify which file.
Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
HI I am not sure this is what is happening. It happens on all my computers that are the same configuration. It seems random.

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
What are you doing when the error occurs? Browsing a folder in Explorer?
With the Codec Tweak Tool it is possible to disable thumbnails. Does that solve the problem?

Re: dllhost.exe memory read error
HI I was going to try this. I removed the software from most of my computers because it was very intrusive. I think it is an error that grows over time. So it might take a while to replicate.
