klite mega madvr default settings
is madvr default settings, that is included in klite mega, the same as if i were to download madVR 0.92.17 directly from madvr.com ?
or did klite tweaked it for mpc?
i just got a new pc with 4k and hdr capabilities so i am using madvr instead of EVR. klite mega with madvr default setting looks way better than EVR. There is a lot of online suggested settings on customizing madvr. if klite has already customized the settings for madvr, then i will leave it alone. but if madvr settings is at default then i might want to experiment with the different settings.

Re: klite mega madvr default settings
It uses default settings.
Those online tutorials often contain very bad advice and settings. Test each individual change and don't blindly change things you don't understand. My recommendation is to only touch the "scaling algorithm" settings.
Jinc + anti-ringing gives good quality with decent performance. On high-end GPU you can use NGU (medium). Higher settings have big performance impact for little quality gain.

i have the ryzen 5 2200g. is this a low, mid, or high-end GPU?
for "NGU (medium)" there are few options.
anti-alias, soft, standard, and sharp
if i do use NGU which one should i use?

Re: klite mega madvr default settings
That is low-end. So probably best to not go higher than Jinc. Test upscaling performance with a 1080p video. Press Ctrl+J to view rendering statistics.
NGU anti-alias is best NGU variant for watching a wide variety of content. NGU sharp is good choice is quality of input is already very high (Bluray).

Re: klite mega madvr default settings
for rendering statistics, what should i be looking for? what is good? what is bad?

Re: klite mega madvr default settings
Most important is the average rendertime, which is the average time it takes for madvr to do its job on a single frame. When that is too high you will get dropped frames and stuttering playback.
When you play a 24 fps video, its should stay below 41 milliseconds (1000 ms / 24 fps = 41). For 60 fps video it should be below 16.

"Jinc + anti-ringing gives good quality with decent performance. "
I did that for chroma upscaling, image downscaling, and image upscaling.
on one of these it said anti-ringing either "relaxed" or "soft"
which one should i use?
i left it on relaxed.
with the Jinc + anti-ringing average render time is under 41 milliseconds.
what is render queue and present queue?
when not in full screen, render queue and present queue gets closer to 8. but when in full screen mode it stays under 3.
is that right?
decoder queue(16), subtitle queue(16), and render queue( numbers stays close to their set number both in regular and full screen. CPU queue size 16 and GPU queue size 8.

Re: klite mega madvr default settings
For downscaling just leave it at cubic. It won't be doing any downscaling anyway since you have a 4k screen.
The queues are buffers of frames that have been decoded/processed. It helps to make playback more stable. They should stay near full size, so that is good. Queue size is decreased to 3 when the seekbar is visible, to make it more responsive. Everything seems to be OK
