SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
Hi
first to say that everything was fine until i decide to fresh re-install windows 7.
The htpc is old machine including MSI P45 Neo, Intel Core2Duo E8400 and video card AMD/ATI Radeon 5750
My last settings before the reinstall were Windows 7 - K-lite 1455 - MAdVR / MPC / Lav Video / DXVA copy-back / SHaders loaded OK
After reinstalling to a new Windows 8.1 and then back to reinstall Windows 7 i cannot set up MPC+madvr in the same way as before.
I did test with latest k-lite mega and standard 1470/5 but the shaders does not loading properly. Then i did a test with previous 1455 mega pack that i used before (when was ok) but again i'm getting the error.
MadVR / LAV Video / DXVA copy-back
MPC status bar - "Failed to set pre-resize shaders"
When i change directshow from madvr to enhanced video renderer (custom), the shaders are working properly!
ANy ideas?
edit:
check every single option in madvr - did not find anything that can change the situation.

Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
Works here on Windows 7. Using default madvr settings.
MPC-HC menu > View > Debug Shaders
Test if compilation works there.
Check if D3DCompiler_47.dll and D3DX9_43.dll exist in your Windows system folder. K-Lite will also install them in MPC-HC folder if they are missing. If you don't have them use "DirectX Web Installer".

Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
Did those two files exist in the MPC-HC folder? Because that should be enough already. If that wasn't sufficient then I need to investigate why.
Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
I did search in C/Program Files (x86)/ K-lite folder and there is only D3DX9_43.dll

Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
I checked a virtual machine with fresh Win7 install, and that already had D3DCompiler_47.dll in the system folder.
Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
Found the issue. Madvr also needs D3DCompiler_43.dll
Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
I'm glad that i could help...
Few weeks ago my htpc windows 7 (4-5years but the shaders were working) start doing some problems with different apps so i decide to do a clean install. As madshi (MadvR) mentioned in his post in different forums that his opinion is that windows 8 is better choice for building htpc and working with madvr (i'm not sure i think it was also about D3D11 usage).... SO i decide to test windows 8, but as i said my hardware is old msi p45 neo + amd ati radeon 5750. For the gpu there are official windows 8 drivers, but for the motherboard there are no official drivers.
So I did install windows 8 core , updated the os, install everything important + k-lite so i got the problem with the shaders. I thought that reason for the problem could be in the not compatible drivers so i did windows 7 install. Again install everything important as .net framework, drivers, apps and then k-lite. Shaders did not work again so it was obvious i'm missing something and this bring me here....
I'm pretty sure that 4-5 years ago when i was installing the windows 7, i did install k-lite without having directX and the shaders were working ok with madvr without additional settings...

Re: SOLVed : MPC Error: Failed to set pre-resize shaders? WIndows 7 + K-lite Codec Pack
Older versions of MPC-HC used D3DCompiler_43.dll instead of D3DCompiler_47.dll so missing file was included.
Madvr only needs it for shaders loaded from MPC-HC. The shaders that it uses internally are already pre-compiled.
