Can't render .mkv?!
So I recentely formatted my surface pro 4. Previously I've always used MPC HC + CCCP + CoreAVC, but both cccp and coreavc seems defunct now.
I tried downloading the standard installation from this website:
https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_standard.htm
Supports playback of:
AVI, MKV, MP4, FLV, MPEG, MOV, TS, M2TS, WMV, RM, RMVB, OGM, WebM
MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, 3GP, AMR, APE, MKA, Opus, Wavpack, Musepack
DVD and Blu-ray (after decryption)
and many more audio and video formats!
Provides lots of useful functionality, such as:
Subtitle display
Hardware accelerated video decoding
Audio bitstreaming
Video thumbnails in Explorer
File association options
Broken codec detection
and much more!
Same as Basic, plus:
Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC)
This is an excellent video player. Highly recommended!
MadVR
An advanced video renderer with high quality upscaling.
MediaInfo Lite
This is a tool for getting details about media files.
After installing I try to open a .mkv file and it says "Cannot render the file"
Plz help.

Re: Can't render .mkv?!
Did you uninstall CCCP afterwards? That will have broken things. Run the K-Lite installer again to fix it.
Otherwise, copy this log here: Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log

Re: Can't render .mkv?!
MPC-HC options > Internal Filters > Video Decoder > set hardware decoder to NONE
Maybe that helps. I assume the problem occurred for all/several files. If it only happens with one specific file, then MediaInfo details of the file would be useful.
