MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Hello,
I've read this:
I have the latest driver for my MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. I've also tried every output in the DirectShow video menu, but no changes. Any video starts after ~5 seconds.
Using standard Windows Media Player or Movies & TV, video starts immediately.
Do you have any other ideas what could be the reason?
I've installed K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1460_Full
Thanks in advance.
I've read this:
Q: After opening a video in MPC it takes a few seconds before it starts playing
A:
If MPC loads slowly only when playing a file, then the problem might be related to your graphics driver. First thing to try is to update the driver.
If that does not help, then select a different video renderer in MPC: Options -> Playback -> Output -> DirectShow video.

The last version 6.0.1.8557 of Realtek Audio Driver installed. Previous version of the driver behaves the same.
Motherboard Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING.
As I said, no problems with other players. There is something inside MPC.

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Select "Null (uncompressed)" as renderer for both audio and video. Test if that eliminates the delay. Then we know if the problem is the renderer.
Another thing to test is to disable hardware decoding in the settings of LAV Video Decoder.

That's what happen when I choose Null (uncompressed).Admin wrote:Select "Null (uncompressed)" as renderer for both audio and video. Test if that eliminates the delay. Then we know if the problem is the renderer.

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
To disable disable hardware, do (during playback):
MPC-HC Menu > Play > Filters > LAV Video Decoder > Set "hardware decoder" to "none".
In rare cases the "3D Vision" component of NVIDIA graphics driver can cause loading delays. You can test if this is the cause by renaming the following file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvSCPAPI64.dll
Null renderer indeed gives an error. I will investigate. Change it back to EVR-CP.

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Sorry, but no changes in both cases.
But I didn't reboot the PC. Is there a need in this?
I returned everything back.
May be I should try older versions of K-Lite?

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Yes, a reboot may be needed for the 3D Vision change.
An older version of K-Lite won't help. The cause is outside of MPC-HC.

It doesn't help...Yes, a reboot may be needed for the 3D Vision change.
Do you have any ideas?
I don't like both Windows Media Player and Movies & TV.
I like MPC, but this "bug" is too annoying...

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
In the past there have also been some cases where a virus scanner or some other anti-malware tool caused loading delays. Such tools "inject" code into other applications, and that sometimes gives troubles. Temporarily disable such tools and test.
Does the player itself also load slow, or just when playing a video? What about music files?

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Player is not slow, it ONLY opens any new file with a delay.
MP3 - 4,5 seconds prior to playing. So it's not only video issue...

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
Hm... curious.
If I use Null (uncompressed) for audio, both video and audio files starts without delay, but without sound...
Initialy my settings for audio were "System by default".
I changed it to
7. Realtek Digital Output (Realtek(R) Audio) - no sound, no delay.
Then I changed to
2. Dynamics (Realtek(R) Audio)) - There is sound and no delay!
Thank you!
Before I noticed only "video" in your reply. My fault.Select "Null (uncompressed)" as renderer for both audio and video.

Re: MPC takes a few seconds before it starts playing
It is normal that Null renderer has no sound. It exist purely for testing purposes.
There are basically three actual renderers available: Internal (uses WASAPI), WaveOut, and DirectSound. The last two are standard ones from Microsoft.
To make things a bit more complex, each renderer can output to a specific audio device on your system. So the complete list you see is a combination of renderer+device. In practice, you should see things listed twice: once preceded by "DirectSound" and once without. The latter uses WaveOut.
