Hi
I noticed a strange like flicker when playing a movie and the scene has different shades of black, like the contrast goes on and off, i thought it was my monitor so i tested the same movie on VLC and there is no strange behavior there.

I havent touched anything on MPC but reading some of the suggestion on the site i went and enabled madvr for HD and the flicker was gone, whatever issue am experiencing is with the standard setting. The movies i noticed it where Galveston and The house that Jack built, both are webrips from Rarbg.

Go to the settings of your graphics driver and look for an option called "dynamic contrast" (or something similar) and disable it. That is usually what causes this problem.

Video 'enhancement' options in drivers usually only have effect on the video renderers from Microsoft (EVR/VMR) so that is why the problem does not occur with VLC or Madvr.

Am using the integrated card, UHD630 from intel and fiddling with the limited options there none fixes the issue.
My monitor is plugged via hdmi cable and the dynamic contrast option in the monitor UI is disabled by default and greyed out.

Thanks for the reply, no change, even tried the registry.

Maybe is because i am using the intel drivers and not the ones windows forces, i updated my drivers about 2 weeks back, havent watched movies maybe thats why i didnt noticed before.

It should not matter that you manually updated the Intel driver. But it may have reset the settings.

If you are using a laptop, then you should also check the Power section of the Intel settings, as there is an Adaptive brightness option there.

Am using a desktop computer with HDMI connection, everything seems to point out that a windows setting is interfering but everything i tried and read about dynamic contrast gives me no positive result.
Ill settle with madvr setting while i keep trying things, its only on movies, am playing videos games with lots of dark and shadows and no issue for ex. dishonored 2
