MPC suddenly has no audio on certain mkv files.
My problem is what I said in the title. I'm getting no audio on certain files for some bizarre reason, yet audio will return to these files if I check it again a day later. I had this issue happening to me last week, but it just magically fixed itself the next day, but now it's back again. I honestly can't tell you what's causing this, so here I am. I'm even getting audio from other files of the same format, however, certain files are just silent.
I've tried uninstalling codecs, MPC, redownloading the files that are having audio issues, audio drivers, etc. Nothing seems to fix this issue other than just leaving it alone, which isn't a real solution.
I'm using Windows 10, the latest K-Lite codec (K-Lite Codec Pack 14.5.5)
Here's two of the soundless files in Mediainfo: https://pastebin.com/22WiQ9rm
Now here's one file of the same format that's still providing me sound: https://pastebin.com/MdhQbDxS

Re: MPC suddenly has no audio on certain mkv files.
I have downloaded the first file that was soundless for you, and it plays file here.
MPC menu > Play > Filters
Should look like this:
- Default DirectSound Device
- Enhanced Video Renderer (custom presenter)
- Audio Switcher
- LAV Video Decoder
- LAV Audio Decoder
- LAV Splitter Source

Looks like I have all of that still, yet I'm still getting no audio. Like I previously said it just magically fixes itself and I don't know why.
Also, I can confirm this file works in another player, but it won't in MPC for whatever reason. The player I tried was VLC. I'd rather use MPC though if it's possible.

Re: MPC suddenly has no audio on certain mkv files.
Are any other applications active when the problem occurs? Another app could be having exclusive access to the audio output device.
Windows Control Panel > Sounds > Speakers > Properties > Advanced > disable the exclusive mode option
Windows Control Panel > Sounds > Speakers > Properties > Advanced > disable the exclusive mode option

That didn't seem to do anything, however, if I go into the enhancements tab and tick off "disable all sound effects" that seems to fix my issue. For now, I guess.Admin wrote:Are any other applications active when the problem occurs? Another app could be having exclusive access to the audio output device.

Is this more of a Windows 10 issue than it is MPC? That's what I'm seeing. I think.

Re: MPC suddenly has no audio on certain mkv files.
Then it isn't a player/codec problem.
Updating your sound driver may fix it.
edit: fix driver typo
