Video freezes and refuse to unpause when moving to another monitor screen

As per the title, I am encountering this weird bug where if I switch from my main monitor and to my TV monitor (via WIN+P and selecting second screen only) or even by using Win+P and selecting extend and moving the MPC with a video on it that way,

when I try to unpause the video, the video will be frozen and even if you press the spacebar, it will keep on pausing itself.

This only happens when MadVR is selected on the MPC-HC playback options. But I need MadVR in order to play HDR video content.


This was not a problem until I changed my CPU and motherboard from the 6700K to the 9900K. With no reinstalls and everything working fine prior.

I have also tried uninstalling K-Lite and reinstalling with the option to reset the entire settings. But still to no avail.

My current 'fix' is to play the next content that is in the playlist (I use add to playlist for multiple videos) by pressing the Skip forward button of the MPC player and then going back to the previous video while in the second screen monitor.
But the problem is, I'll be watching from a TV and using a PS4 controller and pressing R1 that is mapped to the skip forward button. It will be difficult to try to go back to the exact timeline the video was paused at prior to me switching the screen from one monitor to another.

A proper fix to this issue would be much appreciated. Looking forward to your reply and assistance. Thank you.

There is an option in MPC-HC to remember the playback position. That should help make things easier with your skipping workaround.

As for the problem itself, I suggest making a debug log for the developer of Madvr. You can do that as follows:
1) Download latest Madvr package:
http://madshi.net/madVR.zip
2) This contains a debug version of Madvr. Replace madvr64.ax in the K-Lite folder with "madVR64 [debug].ax" from the zip. Rename it to madvr64.ax. Use the regular version again once done with generating this log.
3) This debug version creates a log file on your desktop during playback.
4) Play a file and then move it to the other monitor. Also press space once. Then close the player. So basically just quickly reproduce the problem and close.
5) The log is pretty big, so zip/rar/7zip it to reduce file size. Then upload it somewhere, for example at: http://sendspace.com

I can forward it to the developer.

Try updating to latest Intel GPU driver first if you haven't done that already.

I use a 1080 Ti for the hardware acceleration part though.

If you submit a report to Madshi, then don't forget to mention those system details, including the NVIDIA driver version.

Also check the hardware acceleration settings in LAV Video decoder. If you are currently using DXVA2 native, then change it to DXVA2 copyback.
