Little help installing new K-lite codec pack
So the last codec pack i ever got before i built a new pc was the K-lite codec pack 1090 full for my windows 7 machine. I dunno if it's still necessary to get one for windows 10 but i thought yeah why not. When i go through the installation there seems to be an option that confuses me a bit though. If i recall when i installed the older version when it went to decoding method it used software decoding. The newer ones by default seem to want to use LAV video - DXVA2 copy-back? Whats the difference?
Uh just some minor specs in case it might relate to this, using a ryzen 1600x and a gtx 1070

DXVA2 means hardware acceleration is used for certain video formats. Your GTX 1070 is then used to assist with decoding, which should give better performance.

Well since i had a real old version im assuming this came out some time after that. When was this released? I'm assuming if i wanted to change it to software i could just go into the settings?Admin wrote:DXVA2 means hardware acceleration is used for certain video formats. Your GTX 1070 has more capabilities than your previous system, hence the different default setting.
You can change the setting in LAV Video decoder at any time.
