Bluetooth headphones playback controls inactive in MPC-HC, but active in Groove
Hi, my bluetooth headphones play/pause previous/next commands don't work in MPC-HC, when they do in Groove, and on my smartphone. I'm on Win10, and tried 32bits and 64bits version of MPC-HC. Can you help? Thanks.

Does it also not work if MPC-HC is the active window?

If you have Google Play Music or Plex extension in Chrome, then read this:

Nothing worked. I don't have Spotify, Itunes, Google Play Music, Plex or anything related to music in Chrome to deactivate, only these ones:
And the keybord shortcuts in Chrome parameters only concern Checker Plus for Gmail, Full Page Screen Capture, Lightshot, Ublock Origin, and VideodownloadHelper. There's no "next track, play/pause" checkbox in any of them of course.

MPC-HC options > Player > Keys > "Global Media keys" must be enabled (which it normally already is by default)
I don't have any other idea what might be wrong.

I've got a french version of MPC-HC so i'm gonna try to translate the lign: "Global Media Keys" I guess corresponds to what in french says "Keyboard's multimedia keys" and it's checked already. What's odd is that the bluetooth playback functions don't work either on most of the other players like VLC, WINAMP, etc. I've tried almost ten of them. Even Windows Media Player. But in Groove it works... So I guess I'm fucked.

Re: Bluetooth headphones playback controls inactive in MPC-HC, but active in Groove
I did some more searching and found another possible fix:
Windows 10 settings > Apps > Default Apps > select MPC-HC as music and video player
Windows 10 settings > Apps > Default Apps > select MPC-HC as music and video player
Re: Bluetooth headphones playback controls inactive in MPC-HC, but active in Groove
Already have MPC-HC as default music and video player in win10 settings...

Re: Bluetooth headphones playback controls inactive in MPC-HC, but active in Groove
Oups... I think I found the problem in VLC's forum:
"now VLC doesn't recognize any button I use with my Bluetooth headset to play/pause or next/previous hotkeys with the latest Windows update 1803, please I hope you can fix this."
"Same Problem. Does not work with VLC since recent update, but work with others software like foobar2000 for example."
I tried a playback with Foobar2000 as one of the users suggestes... and Foobar2000 DOES allow bluetooth controls... So I guess it's that fucking Windows update...
Thanks for your help. Have to go: need to bark at Windows Support now. Thanks.

Found another fix that worked for some users of Spotify:
Start > Run > services.msc > disable "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service"
But yes, it is Windows 10 being annoying. Very frustrating.

The Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is already disabled.

Just came around to say thanks for this. I was looking for an option that could toggle that setting on, and somehow it worked.
Btw, I have an Edifier W800bt headset for those who are asking. I just wanted to make better use of the play/pause button.
I thought I had to create a request asking for this feature, but I'm glad to see it's already there.
Thanks, dev!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Even that I made a recent fresh install of K-Lite + MPC-HC, that settings wasn't enabled by default. Just for you to notice.

The option is disabled by default when using Windows 10.
The reason is that Windows 10 will sometime pause/unpause the player if the option is enabled.
