Switching media player coming with Standard pack? Empty Switching media player coming with Standard pack?

I've been a user of K-Lite for many years, and I'm quite pleased with the quality of your codecs. However I bet you know that MPC-HC - the media player that comes with the default Standard pack for installation, is no longer actively developed:

This may put users worldwide in danger - if a security loophole is discovered. Therefore I suggest that you consider switching to another open source player. Well there isn't really choices for open source media players.

MPC-BE seems to be the best choice, as it is derived from the original MPC project and is still constantly developed.

MPC-HC is still being maintained by one of its former developers. The pack currently contains version 1.7.17!

The security argument is bullshit. It doesn't have any holes right now, and didn't have many in the past either. Being open source means it can (and will) get fixed. The most potentially vulnerable part is the part that processes any data (the internal codecs), and those are actually developed as an external project (LAV Filters and indirectly FFmpeg). Those projects are actively maintained and take security very seriously.

MPC-HC works fine right now and there is no reason to switch. Certainly not based on non-existing hypothetical events.
