screen turns black for 1 second.
Hello I haven't had a lot of time to test but watching 4k on my new Radeon saphirre RX580 8gh nitro the screen turns black for one second and it appears random. using the recommended 18.2.1 amd driver and used that as well on other video card that worked fine on same 4k file. Problem seems to be only happening in fullscreen mode. It does not happen with enhanced video custome presenter so I believe its a MadVR thing. I always disable trade quality for performance so that wasn't new. only thing I changed was my card from a R9270x 4gb to RX580 8gb nitro.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Press Ctrl+J to enable the OSD in Madvr when this happens. Check if you see anything unusual, such as empty queues or high rendertime.
Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
render time jumped to 171 at one point. it looks like when it goes black kinda how when it switches to exlusive mode. again only in madvr. i updated amd driver and still does it. here is the log. quite the strange problem

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Perhaps power saving mode in driver temporarily reduced the clock speed of the GPU.
Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Didn't know there was a power saving mode in AMD's drivers. How would one go about turning that off? I looked but they must be sneaky.

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
When exclusive mode is enabled in MadVR it takes a few seconds to witch to fullscreen and even when it does when I right cligh the screen goes black for a second still. There is an issue with MadVR. Enhanced custom presenter is instantaneous. something with fullscreen mode is not working correctly.

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Sorry for the constant updates but figured out I had to disable use direct3d11 to get it to work correctly. Do i need to install a separate update for that? Is that something I need or should have? I don't do anything with 3D since my tv is not 3d. Please advise.

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Direct3D is the name of all the image/screen/video rendering related functionality in DirectX. It is not something specific for 3D video. Madvr (and EVR as well) always uses Direct3D for rendering. EVR uses version 9, while Madvr uses either 9 or 11.
But I think you are talking about Direct3D11VA hardware acceleration. That is similar to DXVA2 (which uses Direct3D9).
EVR uses normal fullscreen by default. Madvr has option to use normal or exclusive mode. Exclusive mode prevents other apps from drawing on the screen. Right-clicking in that case will switch back to normal mode. Switching between modes should be fast in normal situation. So slowness and black screen are probably due to driver bugs. Windows 10 also has some issues with exclusive mode, so I recommend keeping that disabled.

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
if I check the box that says used direct3d11 for windows presentation it does the black screen for a second when i double click it to fullscreen as well as right click on the fulscreen for options. If I uncheck that box in madvr general settings everything is fine. The box with present Vsync option under it.

Re: screen turns black for 1 second.
Some systems work better with that setting off and some better with it on. It depends a lot on the driver. Disabling it is fine, and you could try it again in future in case you update the driver.
