Incorrect Video Duration
Hello friends,
Im using the latest version ok the codec pack (full) with the latest patch (14.0.3) and some MKV videos are stopping at some point because the player for some reason believes that the duration is different, in my case the information showed on the info panel of windows explorer is 24:09 and after open it with MPC, the player says 21:02, if I try to use other players the duration is correct.
I have not done any kind of tweak to the codec pack or the player, sorry for my broken english.
Edit: Some information on google says that maybe is related to the LAV filters.
Best regards.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
Can you give me a link to one of those files? A torrent link is fine too. I need a sample file to get it fixed.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
That video seems to actually be 24:30 long? VLC 3.0.1 also stops there, while audio continues. Does your (older?) VLC continue video beyond 24:30?
Re: Incorrect Video Duration
Apparently video end 24:30 then audio continue till 24:43, after tested in some others players (VLC and MxPlayer both for Android) i obtained same result, so for some reason seekbar don't show till 24:43 it stop in 24:30, it is possible for seekbar show till 24:43?

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
I tested with GraphStudioNext and that also uses 24:30 as duration, so that is standard DirectShow behavior for such files. Changing this might be difficult and considering that this is a rare occurrence, I think I will leave things as they are for now.
@lion, I you have any files that end prematurely, then a sample is still welcome.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
Sorry for the delay, I just PM you with the link (MEGA) to the download!
Thanks for the quick reply.
PD: After the 14.0.4 the issue still.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
Thanks.
This is a segmented MKV file. That means it 'links' to other files for certain chapters that are shared between episodes, like the intro and ending. If I look at the chapters with MkvToolNix I see three external segments:
Opening - 1:30
Cortinilla - 0:07
Ending - 1:35
Total 3:12 which equals the missing duration (plus 5 seconds that I can't explain). Those external files are normally loaded and played automatically as if it is a single file. So check if these files are present in the same folder as the file that you uploaded. If they are, but things still don't work as expected, then please upload those as well.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
Hi Admin,
No other files are present on the folder (besides other episodes), I copied the file to an empty folder and the issue still.
BTW the other player used to test, is Windows Media Player (the one integrated in Win 10 Pro) and no problem at all, in the original folder and in the empty folder.
Hope this help to understand more the issue.

Re: Incorrect Video Duration
The file actually plays 'correctly' in MPC-HC. The chapters in the file specify that the main video is 21:02 long. The person who made the file must have made a mistake with the chapter timings.
The only reason why WMP plays the entire length is because that doesn't support ordered chapters. The propertyhandler for details in Explorer also ignores the chapters and just gives the standard duration.
With MkvToolNix it is possible to remux the file and remove (or edit) the chapters.
