Re: support Windows XP
That is not going to happen. All important components have already dropped support for XP several months ago.
You can use version 13.8.2 of the codec pack forever on XP.

Re: support Windows XP
It is not possible. There are no codec updates for XP. Latest versions of MPC-HC and LAV Filters do not work on XP anymore.
Re: support Windows XP
Congratulation for dropping the support. Hope XP will finally die.
There is no reason to stick in past for forever.
Can't wait when Windows 7 finally ends in two years.

It is very likely that Microsoft will extend Windows 7 support in 2 years if the current trend does not stop. In the past year Windows 7 had it's usage dropped from 47% to 42% and is decreasing at a very very slow rate. I doubt it will drop under 30% until it's support cycle ends. Which means that it is very likely that support will be extended. Besides the fact that Windows 7 is the only actually used OS(besides 8 and 8.1) that is not part of a service, but an actual product you can buy. Windows 10 is an OS not a lot of companies will want to use at this point because of its rolling release cycle.

1) no
2) latest version that works on XP is perfect, you don't need anything else.
3) XP is almost 20 years old and is full of security holes. For the love of Bill Gates, keep XP machines off the internet.
4) Install Windows 7
The only issue is AV1 compatibility on XP. XP is too old to keep supported so if AV1 ever becomes widespread, even XP for just media will be dead. See point 4 for if that ever becomes a problem.

Some drivers working on Windows 7 do not work at full capacity, for example
Sound card from Realtek .... The sound is different and weak on Windows Seven while it becomes stronger and higher on Windows XP
This is an example of clarification and I think all Windows 7 users have noticed that

Re: support Windows XP
Realtek drivers work fine on Windows 7. You might have tried a broken version in the past.
