VSFilter not loading for external (.ass) subtitles
Hi, I decided to always use VSFilter because of much lower CPU usage than with ISR. But my problem is that MPC-HC is not using VSFilter for external subtitles (.ass), but instead is using ISR (Internal Subtitle Renderer) even tho I set VSFilter as default.
Here is my example. Just load the subtitle file when you open the OP.

VSFilter works fine here for that subtitle. You will of course have to rename the subtitle file to have the same name as the video.
You can lower the CPU usage of the ISR with this setting:
MPC-HC options > Subtitles > Maximum texture resolution > Video
VSFilter also renders at video resolution. Downside is that subtitles are less sharp when you watch a low resolution video at full screen.

I see. The VSFilter loads if the subtitles are the same name as the video and if they are in the same folder as the video. But why doesn't VSFilter load when I load subtitles from a separate folder?
This is the folder structure I always keep... it would be kind of messy to just throw 12 (.ass) subtitle files alongside the videos...

Is there a way to make VSFilter load even when subs are loaded from a separate folder, like the one in my snap?

You can add subtitle locations here:
DirectVobSub settings > Paths
For example add ".\eng subs" to load from that subfolder. The subtitle files still need to be named the same as the video.
