DivX in-game Cutscenes & Cinematics won't play
Hello,
I am having problems with in-game cutscenes from Warhammer 40k Dawn of War II (Chaos Rising)........ on my WIN7 Ultimate (SP1 ; x64), screen flickers at loading and the intro cinematics as well as cutscenes skip automatically after. The video files that are stored in the game directory says that they are in encoded in DXGM format. I used "GSpot" to identify this......... I can play them just fine externally with GOM player but they are without sound. Formerly, I used Shark007. But for the past few weeks, I have switched to K-Lite Full and have the settings set to DEFAULT. However, I previously also had ffdshow (both x86 and x 64) version 1.3.4531, xVid version 1.3.5 & version 1.1.2, Indeo Ligos 5.11 and the latest DivX player installed separately. My GPU is NvIDIA with the latest driver, freshly installed. My on-board Audio is VIA Envy HD (Package Version 9.2.00.31 ; Driver Version 6.0.1.9200 ; Codec Version VT2021)
Initially I have contacted the Relic & Sega Support, but they have insisted that the problem is with the codec decoder and told me to seek help here instead. I honestly don't know for sure what's causing this but I believe that I may have screwed something up big time without knowing while uninstalling / reinstalling codecs (my knowledge regarding codecs are very limited). And after hours of trials and errors, I am out of luck and ideas. As such, I am knocking every possible doors for potential help.
Workarounds that I have tried to resolve this are :-
1/ Blacklisting the EXE file in ffdshow DirectShow Control [both 32 and 64 bit applications]
2/ Disabling xvid, DivX 4/5/6, Other MPEG4 and DivX 3 decoder in ffdshow [both 32 and 64 bit applications]
3/ Running the game in Compatibility mode for WIN XP (SP 2 ; SP3) and WIN VISTA
4/ Fresh installing the game in WIN XP (SP2 x32)
5/ Uninstalling every other codec packs on WIN7, cleaning codec registry with "Codec Tweak Tool" and reinstalling K-Lite Full (Version 13.7.5)
My System Specifications are :
CPU -- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz
MOBO -- Gigabyte G41MT-S2P
RAM -- Transcend JM1600KLN 4GB (x2) DDR3 @ 1333 MHz
GPU -- MSI N550GTX-TI CYCLONE II 1GD5/OC
PSU -- XFX Pro 550W Gold
HDD -- SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
Display -- BenQ E 900 @ 1280 x 1024 resolution
Default video player is GOM and audio player is WMP....... Java version is 8 Update 151 and Flash Player Version is 28 PPAPI. I have UAC disabled and Secondary Logon enabled.
To better understand the problem, perhaps it may help to look at the actual media file, for which I have given a link below; It contains one of the actual DXGM encoded media file from the game along with the speech file it uses. Also, I have given a separate link for a fresh copy of CodecTweak LOG, two copies of DxDiag (x86 & x64) and NVIDIA System Information txt files. Unfortunately, the audio files are large, so its hard to upload those files (.SGA format).
LINK to the Media File :-

Is there any hope for a possible solution, please ??
Thanks in advance.

Re: DivX in-game Cutscenes & Cinematics won't play
Update to version 13.7.8 of the codec pack. That is able to play that video. It does not contain audio.
http://codecguide.com/klcp_beta.htm
It is strange that the game doesn't install a codec for this format.

Cutscenes & Cinematics still won't play in-game
Tried your advise, still not working :/ ........... game opens, loading finishes, screen flickers and jumps to gameplay directly. I have provided another LINK that contains two CodecTweak generated logs, One after uninstalling KLCP FULL 1375 and one after installing KLCP FULL BETA 1378, plus one screenshot of GSpot from the same media AVI that I sent you before.
Please inform if you need anything else from my end. Will be waiting for your next advise.

Re: DivX in-game Cutscenes & Cinematics won't play
You should use the MS A/V render test on the bottom of GSpot. That plays the video correctly here.
GSpot is a very old tool. Better is to use GraphStudioNext that is included in the codec pack.
You should ask the maker of that game which codec it should normally use. Have you tried re-installing the game?
When creating the codec log, keep the option to hide the Microsoft codecs enabled (because those are not interesting). That makes it shorter and easier to see the non-standard codecs.

Re: DivX in-game Cutscenes & Cinematics won't play
MS A/V works fine though, but still without audio...... GraphStudioNext x64 also plays it fine without audio.
Yes I have tried re-installing, into different drives also. I have tried compatibility modes as well as lower and medium graphic setting combinations on all given resolutions. Sometimes, on WIN Vista Compatibility, when quitting and restarting game for a number of times, it suddenly plays on the random (3rd or 5th) attempt but breaks down after a 2-3 seconds interval..... other times it just skips. If the video is not problem, is it the audio that is causing the crash ?............. something wrong with my system to handle the playback ?

Re: DivX in-game Cutscenes & Cinematics won't play
Found some tips for that game here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/4570/discussions/0/34094415956642426/
You can use "-nomovies" command line switch to disable cutscenes. Maybe that fixes the crash (if it is related).
Since the video now plays in other applications, there is nothing more I can do to help. Since the game is very old, your best bet would be to try to get it to work on Windows XP. The tips I linked to said to try Windows 98 compatibility mode. If you try that, you should do it for both the installer and the game itself.
