LAV Audio Decoder issues
Hi there
I noticed that some video files with DTS-HD lossless audio and an audio delay of a few seconds, upon playing, when selecting audio track in MPC it just shows "A: English [eng] (dts, 48000 HZ, 5.1, 1536 kb/s) [default]". The file clearly has DTS-HD lossless audio as confirmed by Mediainfo.
What could the reason be for it only being detected as DTS?
Thank you in anticipation,
Daniel

Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Does it only happen when a file has a large audio delay?
Did you enable bitstreaming?

Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Yeah I noticed that a delay above 7 seconds then it picks up as just DTS.
I don't use bitstreaming no.

Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Can you give me a filename of one of those files? Something I can download from a torrent or newsgroup. Once I can reproduce the problem, I can prepare a sample for the relevant developer to test with.
Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Hmm easy. Download any WEB-DL that might have a runtime longer than the official BluRay and then try to mux it with the lossless audio of the BluRay itself. If the delay is large enough then that happens. You know, the delay due to HBO or Cinemax intro. In my case it was around 9 seconds. So maybe experiment with +-9 seconds.

Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Sorry, but I am not going to do that. I need a ready to use file.
You can use this little tool to cut a piece from the front of the file:
http://rationalqm.us/dgsplit/dgsplit12.zip
30 MB will probably be enough.
Then upload it to a free file hosting site like:

Re: LAV Audio Decoder issues
Thanks for the file.
The problem is purely cosmetic. The audio decoder indicates that it is decoding DTS-HD MA. You can see at its status page. The information shown by the splitter is based on the data that is analyzed during initial opening of the file. A larger amount of data is needed for accurate information in this specific case. There is no option (yet) to customize this value. But I will look into adding a setting for it.
