Video not playable in VLC and MPC, but plays in WMP - other computer is fine

Hi.

On my main computer I've recently run into some problems playing certain files. After reinstalling the codec pack and running some of the tweaks they will now play in WMP - but not in neither VLC nor MPC. On my media center it works fine in both VLC and MPC. Anyone got any tips on what to do? WMP isn't exactly the best player around...

VLC only uses its own internal codecs. So perhaps you have an older version on one of your computers.

Right-click on the file and select MediaInfo. Copy the info here, so I can see what kind of file it is.

What error does MPC-HC give?

Thanks, but I think I found the problem - and it's not a codec problem. I copied the file locally, and it worked. I then tried to see if it might be too long name for the network share, but even renaming it 1.mkv in the root of the share didn't work. The only major difference between this computer and the other one is that this one has received the fall creators update - so I think that might have broken something in the SMB protocol.

Anyone else got the update and can see if it works or not?

Ok. I'm officially rusty. Did a restart without anything changing, resat the network adapter, connected to the network and it works again. Sorry for the trouble. I should have resat the network adapter before flapping my arms and yelling for help.
