The Media Feature Pack is only for N versions of Windows that do not have any video playback capabilities by default. You do not need this if you have a non-N Windows or have K-Lite Codec Pack.

So the K Lite is the alternative codec instead the Media Feature Pack?

The Media Feature Pack just has the Microsoft Foundation Codecs for Enterprise Windows installations. Normal consumer PC's already have the Microsoft Foundation Codecs.
K-Lite uses the LAV codecs(which are far superior and a lot faster!) by default.

Re: Media feature pack and K lite
If you want to make use of EVR (custom presenter) in MPC-HC and be able to play certain WMV files: yes
I'm not sure but I think the media feature pack will override certain codec defaults so you might want to reinstall K-Lite after installing the media feature pack

No K-Lite has everything you ever need. Installing other codec packs will only lead to big problems :p

Re: Media feature pack and K lite
there's the possibility to isolate in Media Feature Pack the codecs and the player? I need only the EVR so I dont need the windows player

I don't think this is possible no. Though WMP won't be in the way if you select MPC-HC as default.

Re: Media feature pack and K lite
Is ironic I choose the N version to have the choice of player but at the end I need to install the default windows player

Re: Media feature pack and K lite
There is unfortunately no way to install only parts of the Media Feature Pack.
The only component of it that is useful for K-Lite is EVR. If you have a medium/high-end GPU, then MadVR is a good alternative for EVR.
The Media Feature Pack is not needed to play WMV files with MPC-HC. That is also possible with LAV Filters. K-Lite will adjust settings automatically when the codecs from Microsoft are not available.
Some other applications however do require the codecs from Microsoft. For example certain games need the Media Foundation codecs. Firefox also use those codecs for video playback in the browser.
